Ever since the last two updates, I've noticed a very annoying problem with the Linux viewer. When I am around other avatars, everyone else's textures and clothes are very blurry, as if my avatar has nearsightedness. However my avatar, as well as prim-based attachments, show up crystal clear. I know I'm not the only Linux-using resident with this problem, and I'm sure this problem has been put up in this forum before. I would just like to know: is this problem being worked on yet, and is there any workaround other than trying the Windows client via Wine?

It is a texture loading problem due to not detecting the video ram properly. The textures sometimes never load. Editing the settings.xml file to set your graphics card memory size may help.

Editing my settings.xml file worked. no more blurries! Oh, and to anybody who also has this problem, the settings.xml file Merrick is talking about is in the user_settings directory, and the value that needs to be changed is GraphicsCardMemorySetting. There's a comment before it that tells you how to set it correctly.

That helped me too with the blurriness, but it may have triggered other more serious issues. See:
