Exploiting Multi-Core CPUs?

Hi,

Some time in the past week I saw a thread with instructions on how to alter the configuration / settings of the SL viewer software so that it will use both cores of a dual-core CPU.

I've tried to find that thread, but cannot. Would someone either point me to that post, repeat the information or give a pointer to it elsewhere?

Thanks.

You'll find a setting called Run Multiple Threads under Advanced >> Rendering that can help spread some work out... But SL really isn't written to take advantage of multicore processors yet. Really the best purpose to go multicore is to multitask. I often have PSP, Firefox, Winamp, and a pic browser running along with SL... It's nice to know that I have other cores taking that load so I don't get lagged. (^_^)

The last thread I remember about multicores is this one: /111/44/249766/1.html

Can someone explain more exactly what the Run on Multiple Cores option does with respect to SL. I know all about threads and multi-processing in general.

Where do I find "Advanced >> Rendering" I can't seem to find an "Advanced" menu or sub-menu, though I've been known to look right at something without seeing it...

Press Ctl+Alt+SHIFT+D (on a PC)
A new menu will appear.
