Hey all!
We're getting a few people together and traveling to NYC the weekend of August 11 and 12. Is anyone interested in meeting up anywhere?
We have a few people already on the wagon for this, but if anyone else is interested in meeting up I think that'd be great! Even if it's just for lunch or something on the 12th..
So, let's get the ball rolling here and see who's in!

I could be convinced to join in. You said "travelling to NYC"...from where? I'm already here, so if you want recommendations for places, let me know. Of course, most of the places I tend to recommend for just about anything are bars.... -S

Hey! I'm traveling from central Pennsylvania with my husband (also on SL). We've got someone coming from Atlanta, GA and maybe another one from PA, one from CA, and maybe someone from Philly. I know there are at least two other people in NYC that would want to meet up, too, so I think we can have a pretty decent group. I've been to NYC quite often.. got married there in fact, but any good ideas for places to meet up like this as a group and hang out would be MUCH appreciated. -Micala Lumiere

Hoboken Resident here (just across the river for those who've not heard of the place). Set some locations and I'll look into stopping by. That gives me incentive as well for what timeframe in Aug I'll take off (planning to take 1.5 weeks that month). If that weekend is set I'll start dealing with work as well. :link:

Yep, that weekend is definitely set. Let's plan for something on Saturday, August 12. I'm open to whatever is convenient for everyone else.. if a lunch thing works for everyone that'd be fine, or if evening is better or whatever.. Yay Sid! I was hoping to be able to meet you while we're up there. Since you guys are from the NYC area, you go ahead and decide where's a good place and then we'll concentrate on the exact time as we get closer. I'm just thinkin it'd be cool to meet up for a few hours, have some drinks or lunch or something, just to be able to put some faces to names. -Micala

I would love to come. I'll be there.
I'm coming from Rhode Island but it will be a breeze to hop on the Acela and hit NYC in a few hours.

Excellent! We might be getting together quite a crowd here!! So, you people from NYC.. your job is to work on finding a nice, relaxing sort of 'hang out' place to meet up. What about even grabbing some lunch and meeting in the park somewhere? Like I've said, I'm open to anything.. So let's hear some ideas. -Micala

Why not French food?
06-16-2006 09:05
Pigalle http://www.pigallenyc.com/presentation_content.html, right in Times Square/Theater District can accommodate big groups, and they have a small but lovely zinc bar. They are a Brasserie, donc ouvert 24/7. And, then for the out-of-towners we are right in Times Square. Of course, we could always go a little classier...

I do believe that mayhap I'll show up for this, once a set location and set of times is settled most fully upon. I believe I shall find it somewhat intriguing.
Bolliver, dear, it'll be quite good to meet you, seeing on how we are on each other's mutual friends list. I still remember meeting you, despite the several months spent between.
To any and all others, well met, and hopefully it'll be fun!
As for the matter of location, I don't know too many places, despite New York City being my home town. I do however strongly recommend a specific Red Lobster for food, as the quality of its' food is far far above the average, and it's close to midtown. I will endeavor to get the specific location up as soon as possible, so if I cannot make it the rest of you will still have an excellent place to dine, provided you are amenable to seafood.
Many thanks for this!
Yours, Mika Kyubi (Muromachi) Kitsune-at-Large (Who wants her last name of Kyubi in SL!!!)

I really love the idea of the french place mentioned in Times Square so if that's ok with everyone else, let's just plan a meet-up for there on Saturday around lunchtime? We'll do specifics later, but anyone that's up for it can meet up with us then. Saturday, August 12 for a late lunch.

Lets create a group in SL
06-21-2006 09:00
I'd be willing to set up a group membership in SL and add everyone who is intersted in joining, just so that we can send reminders to everyone about this event, I'm from NE PA and i'm willing to travel to NY, I grew up there and know my way around, Julian Myriam

Count me in for the get-together. I live in NYC as well, and I might be able to gather a few other locals I know.

Great!
Yeah I think a group would be a great idea, that'll help us all stay updated.
As far as I can tell the plan is just to meet up for a late lunch on August 12th at Pigelle in Times Square.

Well, as I've said before.. I'm up for anything. My plan is to spend Friday August 11 and Saturday, August 12 in the city. I'd like to meet up with some folks for a late lunch on either of those days, but I thought that maybe a Saturday would work better for people. Since I'm not from NYC, that's why I asked for suggestions I'm open to anything, so let's hear some suggestions!

Here's my suggestion: Around the Clock. It's a 24-hour restaurant in the East Village. Good food, decent prices, easy to get to and they have no problem seating large groups. Best of all, it's not in Midtown Review: http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7087502/Map: http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&hs=436&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&pwst=1&q=around-the-clock&near=New+York,+NY&radius=0.0&latlng=40714167,-74006389,16279950544068148286&sa=X&oi=local&ct=result&cd=1-S
