/cue trumpet blasts With the 2006 Second Life Community Convention (SLCC) on the not-so-distant horizon, it's high-time to kick-start the roll-out. The first SLCC happened last year in New York City with 150 residents coming together to press the flesh ( Flickr pics). This year SLCC will grow in size (hoping to accommodate 500), length (Fri/Sat/Sun), and scope (SL A-Z), hopping coasts to San Francisco for a late summer/early fall gathering. Setting the exact dates depends in part on the venue (more on that soon), but it is not too early to ask: Do you plan to attend SLCC 2006 in San Francisco?SLCC is *the* place to meet fellow Second Lifers on the other side of the screen, form real world relationships and discuss the things that matter to you in a completely lag-free environment . This year's SLCC will have more attendees, more mixed-reality connections with the inworld mirror convention, and more "open space" time for residents to host their own activities and sessions. Please tick your convention status on the poll (follow-up with Why and thoughts in the thread) and drop me a line if you'd like to volunteer to help organize in any way (approx. 20 onboard so far). Will be a total blast. Let's tear the real world up and bring the metaverse to life!!

Moved to Meetups and Real Life Events. I'm really excited about SLCC2... I'll definately be there, last years was great and this one is stacking up to be even better! Made a lot of friends, met a lot of interesting people, good time all around.

Unfortunately no, for two reasons: 1) Location - SF. Nothing against that, just hard to get to for me. 2) Already planning a different West Coast trip. This one to Spokanne and Mysterium. Though its the same month as Dexcon here in NJ, so I may have to nix that as well. Dunno yet. As an aside, I'm still in the planning stages myself for my presentation in Dexcon (I hope to have that solidified for submission this week). Some of the delay is in checking with Lexar on a medium-sized order of thumbdrives that I'll hand out at the presentations, and a few Lightning drives I'll give away at the Opening Dinner. The latter will have my website engraved on them of course, and pre-loaded with current client software for almost everything I'm presenting (still not certain what will happen with Uru/SE/Whatever is supposed to be announced in the next couple weeks). *waves and links out again*

Would love to come, but jeez, that location is a bugger.
If only I'd joined SL earlier, I could have gone to last year's con in NYC, which is way closer to me. This is exactly the kind of luck that defines me!
Still on the "interested" list, though. It's just less of a casual engagement, trotting across the nation for a few days rather than popping down the road.

From: Ayton Milosz Would love to come, but jeez, that location is a bugger. I agree...bad location for some of us. Especially ppl like me... East Coast Dwellers who refuse to go past the Mississippi River! When you all have one at Disney in Orlando...I'm there!

I'd come... maybe. Last year was easy because it piggybacked on State of Play, which I was also interested in attending. I think putting SLCC on top of a related conference helps drive attendance and makes it MUCH easier for those of us who can then legitimately expense the trip, or only justify the overall cost if we pay with our own money. A definite preference for NY, much closer to Paris... (though, on the other hand, I've never been to SF ) Best,

Will absolutely be there.
For anyone that's never been to San Fran, take advantage of this chance to go and visit! Its a beautiful city and lots of fun.
Cost-wise, I was genuinely suprised by the hotel rates there as well. Granted it was in the off-season, but still very cheap especially by NYC standards, which is where the last one was held.
Even on a budget, I'd say you can get out there, stay, eat, and explore for a lot less than you might think.

If I had definite dates I'd book it RIGHT NOW.
When is it? Seriously....don't make me fly over there just to make a big scene.

Dates have been difficult to pick thus far due to us still researching where the location will be and availibility. If anyone is in the San Fran area and can do some leg work for us, that would be fantastic; we just want to ensure its at a wonderful location like the NYLS was last year. If anyone on the East Coast wants to come to a smaller scale event and meet some SLers, check out the concert this weekend in Philadelphia here: /234/67/95118/1.htmlRegards, -Flip

Would love to go, but a LOT depends on the date of the con. Money comes and goes pretty swiftly around this house and what may seem possible one week might seem hopeless the next.
