First, welcome to all of the new Greeters! Now then, there have been some pretty major changes to Second Life and the way in which new Residents join us in-world over the last few weeks/months. Help Island is now a required step in the Orientation process and Residents are routed all over the grid post-orientation to Infohubs and other Linden Locations. One proposed solution we discussed at this month’s meeting ( read the log here ) was to roll the Greeters and Mentor program into one larger group whose shared mission is to help welcome new Residents into the Second Life community with separate roles for those who prefer to do more "mentory" or “greetery” welcoming. Please feel free to post your thoughts/feelings on the idea there and THANKS again for your welcoming attitudes and helpful volunteering to make Second Life a better place.

Greeter/Montor Program Program

I think the mixing of Greeter/Mentor is a GRAND idea. Will we have one title instead of two? I am happy the direction it is going. Renee Riva

I too like this idea. I like to be more of a greetery type but didn't think I did enough greetery stuff to really warrant being a true greeter.

The Gates of Mordor Open...

One Group to rule them all, One Group to find them, One Group to bring them all, And in the Darkness bind them.
Seriously, now, I love the idea, and really am all for it! What about the Instructors? Could we also have them as a role of the new "SL Volunteers" group, please? I also look forward to have a common IM chat channel to be able to get in touch with either Greeters, Mentors or Instructors, depending on the question/request being asked by the newbies...

Meeting times are posted in-world at the volunteer HQ in Tenera, in these forums (in particular at the top of this very forum, for the greeter meetings), and in the 'SL Volunteer Meetings' google calendar.

I didn't even know there was a SL Volunteer google calendar... but it's useful to know. Anyway, I'm not getting up in the middle of the night for a meeting, no matter how much I support it.

I think it's a great idea,I normally go to HI as a mentor and switch tags if someone needs a greeter anyway.Dont know if you can answer me on here but my Partner in SL applied for greeter and hasnt heard anything as yet...he is also a Mentor, Will this mean he will be automatically be both? would be great if it did as he normally comes with me on greets anyway lol,
