I am fairly new and have a lot to learn, but something happend today that kinda put me off playing. I was in a public place and people kept coming up asking me what I was doing, and asking why I was doing it. Eventually I realised they must be able to see something I couldn't see, so I sent an IM to one of them asking them to tell me what was going on, because all I could see was that my avi was standing still. Well the person told me that my avi was doing a 'lewd' gesture and didn't like to tell me what it was. I logged out and back in and it had stopped. Is this common? How does this happen? I don't know how long it had been happening and now i am concerned it will happen again and I won't know.

It happens... Animations can be running on other peoples' that aren't running on yours. Usually Stop All Animations only works on your end and people are left seeing the same loop that you just tried to stop. (=_=)
On top of that, if you ever accepted or wore "nice pants"... It would probably instantly explain the animation you're in. It would be a good idea to relog and never wear that thing again. (^_^)y

Oh.. so I could have gotten this animation from an item of clothing? I had just been trying lots and lots of different clothes that I had picked up at free and low prices so that makes sense. Thanks Hmm not sure what to do now about finding out which item of clothing caused it. I never saw anything... no animations, and I don't remember anything called 'nice pants' but I did try jeans and bikinis on.

Ishtar, First of all, don't feel bad. Embarrassing things happen to EVERYBODY in Second Life. Here's a thread with a lot of hilarious examples: /327/04/229082/1.htmlSecond, if you are seriously concerned about this particular incident, check your clothing that has prim items as part of the outfit (pant flares, sleeve cuffs, prim skirts, etc...any piece of clothing that has a little box next to it in your inventory). Drag the prim item out into the world (you don't have to wear it), right click on it and select Edit. If your Edit menu has a button that says "More", click it. Then click the Content tab of the Edit menu. Look for any scripts (items with little page icons) or animations (items with little running man icons). Your other clothing items (shirts, undershirts, system skirts, pants, socks, etc.) cannot contain any bad things. If they are in something you own, it will be a prim item. [EDIT: The problem might not be with your clothes. You might have hopped on a poseball somewhere and had your avatar get stuck in its animation, even though in your viewer, the animation had stopped]

From: Lindal Kidd [EDIT: The problem might not be with your clothes. I was just reminded of a popular welcome area griefer toy that leads up to that situation. From the people that I know who hand it out, it's called "Nice Pants"... Of course, it's not a pair of pants at all. (=_=)y
