The reason I went immediatly to weapons and guns was that out of the amazement of what I could do, I wanted to make things that were interactive and I could wear, instead of a box house or something more plain.

Kakashi, I have to say that this is pretty much the same reason that I started my scripting career (such as it is) with guns - building something that allows one to interact with the world in a new way, even in the simplest terms, but something dynamic that allows one to do something that one couldn't do before.

There are other ways that one can do this of course but often they are not obvious to a beginning scripter. Nowadays, for instance, I find it more satisfying to create items that can be used, shared and enjoyed by a community of people, social tools and transport mechanisms, but that's not an easy thing for a new person to do. And I still like building guns. After one works out how to build an automatically-targetting orbiter, one concentrates more on the aesthetic side.

I want to repeat that this isn't a guns in SL thread but only about guns on Help Island. On the night I posted this there were gun crazed "newbies" everywhere and Kenny Linden eventually had to come and clean them out.

Well they should think about it in the way that it's illegal in your First Life to shoot people so it's not allowed in your Second Life either *nods*

A few people have asked me why you can't do certain things on SL and my basic explanation is that this is more like The Sims than Grand Theft Auto... You don't steal people's cars, you don't shoot people, you don't do anything you wouldn't do in your First Life :)

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were handicapped. :>

(Looks around, wondering who believes they can fly...and live on upper floors of multistory buildings with balconies or openable windows...)

Perhaps a more accurate statement would be anything you wouldn't be allowed to do in the analog world, ability or not.

Seriously. To the lindens for push control. Thank You. Now to see if it works.

Shooting people after you have told them to cease and desist all obsenities and attacks is good, killing someone and making their life ceaseless hell because they attacked, then made comments about you in 1337 is grey, shooting people on Newbie Island is nefarious, stupid, and sociopatic.

In all humor...

Perhaps LL should institute a new last name, "TheHun." Let it run for 200 names, then ban all of them. :>

</humor>

There are always jerks. Be they the ones that bully you based on strength and threat of force, technical savvy, social position, or knowledge of the legal system.

Stan: If you're going to try and humour yourself on that, go ahead...

But reread my sentence. If you COULD fly, you would, right? Well... I did not say what you cannot do irl, I said what you wouldn't...
