Ginny was that smiling face, Ginny was that laughter that filled the room, Ginny was that kind hand and heart to guide you through the dark. Ginny was and is an angel amongst us all.

Ginny was my mentor when I first joined SL. She was great in every way, I could never thank her enough for all she did for me. I am aware, many others feel this same exact way. Ginny will always be in our hearts minds and souls and most of all OUR family here at SL. My Prayers & Thoughts are with her family and friends. May god bless ginny and take her into his arms and home of that kingdom we call heaven.

I will try to be there as well. As some of you might have known, she was severely ill in hospital, but her son said that she passed away during her sleep. I will hope that she did so with a smile and without suffering — remembering with fondness some of her own last memories, which will probably have turned at some point to the so many people she helped out in Second Life.

Our memories of her — specially of those she has helped — will not fade and go away. For some of us, Ginny will always be remembered as "the one who was there in Second Life when one was a new user". The first person you met in SL and helped you out will mark you forever in this world — thus, her memory will always remain with those who were helped by her. As well, of course, by the ones who stayed beside her during "Mentor duty" and relied upon her being there.

She shall not be forgotten.

I too, am very sadden by her passing. I didn’t know her well, however, I worked with her on Help Island and one of the Welcome Centers. She was always nice to me and would say “Hi.”

This gives new meaning to the term, “Behind every avatar is a real person.” My condolences to all of her dear friends and especially her family.

only knew her as a baby newbie really. hardly saw her after she 'grew up.'

glad she made so much of her short time here. very sad she's gone.

sadly not the first person we lost from the shelter flock this year. as SL gets bigger and older it's bound to happen more and more, but doesn't make it any nicer 8(

Don't miss the memorial post from Tateru Nino, "I dream of Ginny," at http://dwellonit.blogspot.com/2006/09/i-dream-of-ginny.html. There are many nice comments and remembrances there, also.

I only met Ginny a handful of times through other friends at parties and in passing at the Welcome Area. It is plain to anyone who had met and talked to Ginny that she was a very caring person and always looking to help those around her. If I don't make it to the get together I'll be sure to stop by the WA to say a prayer for her and her family.

i was extremely fortunate to have known Ginny...we had many conversations, spent time together, sent offline IMs when the other was not online.
i cant think of what to say about her, and actually do her justice. to say she was a wonderful friend would be an understatement. almost an insult, because she was so much more. she REALLY cared about other people. if somebody needed help, she would do everything she could to get that person back on track.
she always had a smiling face for anyone that she talked to. i honestly think that there is no one in all of second life that didnt like her. she was that kind, caring, cheerful, quick to say "good job!!" when someone learned something new.
even in my real life, she did nothing but encourage me to do better, with my job, my websites i build, my business.
she loved lighthouses. and to so many people in SL, she was a lighthouse, a beacon, shining in the darkness, showing the way.
now, im faced with the fact that she isnt coming back. as i type, correct, retype, and misspell words due to the fish-eye lens of tears im currently seeing the world through, i cant believe shes gone.
i was stupid enough to actually believe shed always be there.
i love and miss her terribly.
the world (and the real world) is sadly, much the worse without her.
we're lost at sea, and the lighthouse has gone dark.

Goodbye Ginny. We hardly knew you.

Rest in peace, Ginny Gremlin!
I talked to her quite a bit the odd time being a fellow mentor, sometimes hanging out with her in the welcome area, sometimes help island etc.

That is so sad to hear of her passing. it really hits home.
I wish her family all the best in memory of her.

Wow, I`m probably one of the few who frequented the welcome area and never held a conversation with her.

I have never heard anything but good spoken about her, she was a name I always remembered.

Rest in peace, Ginny.

This is a real blow. To the people that got to work with Ginny to her friends and to the newbies of Second Life. She was such a great person to work with. When things would get hectic on help island and I felt like I was ready to pull my hair out she would always make me laugh and find the fun of being a mentor and greeter again. She took the volunteer program very seriously our loss in heavens gain. I'll see you on the other side Ginny my friend.

P.S
I doubt I'll be able to make it to the service my computer still doesn't have enough RAM. but I recieved my extra RAM recently just waiting for it to be installed.

Ginny was the first person I ever talked to on SL.... Always courteous, always knew the right thing to do and/or how to handle some of the situations iv run into.. Plus she did an excellent job with documentation, and never seeming to want to take any credit for it...

I had the oppertunity to chat with Ginny on several occasions. She was a wonderful mentor and helper. I Like to think of her now as being that welcome person that shows all the newbies the ropes in her place of rest:) Carry on Ginny!

I have read over the messages about, and for Ginny and I now count myself as one of the luckier residents as I knew Ginny very well.. I also knew she was mostly house bound as she had a respiratory problem.. Why do I mention this?? Well Ginny touched many more people then she knew about, you see she was one of my un-named examples.. As a mentor I am often asked what SL means to me and is there more to it then meets the eye.. I would respond that Secondlife is truly a gift to many people to the residents that are handicapped or cannot participate easily in real world activities.. In our little virtual world she could dance, skate, skydive but more then that she could be with her friends any time of day or night and help the newcomers in her own kind way.
So to all the people that she reached out and touched and to the many more that didn’t know who she was, she will be sadly missed for she was someone that made SL the amazing place it is..
We all loved you Ginny..

Merry meet, merry part, merry meet again...

i want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who takes the moment to write their thoughts down about ginny. Thank you!! also like to thank everyone who came out this morning to share the love with her family and friends. If you were unable to make the 10am service you can still stop by gemella and smile at the pictures of our beloved ginny.

I .... I don't know what to say :( .... I'm still in shock. When i first joinned in to SL Mentor's, she helped me in many occasions. We became good friends afterwards, gossiping, joking, sharing. She was and she still is indeed a very valueable for person. I still can't believe that she passed away.. But she will always have a place in my heart. I won't be able to write anymore, it's too much for me to handle at the moment, sorry.....

I have known her for a little over a year. She is one of my very first friends in SL, and my neighbor in Gemella for nearly that entire year. There were countless conversations with her and her friend Rat. That's what I'm gonna miss the most. Walking over to her yard and finding her and Rat sitting on the bridge or playing greedy at Rat's table. I will miss her conversation, her opinions, her companionship, her advice, and her sense of humor.
It's good to know that as a mentor, she shared some of herself with so many people.
We'll miss you Ginny, but we'll always remember you with a smile.

My heart is so full of grief still, I can hardly find the words that can fully describle my dear friend Ginny.
We met several years ago in an online writing school and barely a day has past that we weren't together, whether in a group in school, or editing stories for the school's ezine, or playing games on Pogo. Canasta was her favorite. Of course she could never beat me, but she still loved it:)

Her kids convinced her to come on SL and she talked me into joining too. We had to be the klutziest members ever...we could do nothing right. We were scared of doing something wrong and blowing up our computers! And dumb...we didn't know enough when we went to a sandbox to try and build stuff and were attacked by griefers to tp home or log off, we just let them set us on fire, beat on us or knock us all over SL.

But no matter what happened in rl, good or bad, she was always there for me. Especially when my son died, she gave me the most comfort of anyone.

Sometimes we had knockdown drag out fights, and other times we laughed ourselves silly.
Right now I can't fathom how much I'm going to miss her but I know it's going to hit me soon.

Ginny, I loved you very much.
