Please someone, a little help on this. For months I've been asking around when I think about it (I'm old my attention span isn't as sharp as it once was).
Landmarks. There are two kinds. Red and Burgandy. What is the difference between the two?
I've even asked a few Lindens and all I got was, "I'm not sure, I'll have to get back with you on that one.", but I've yet to get the answer. I know there are a lot more pressing issues to deal with than to find out why something is as it is.

So if anyone can enlighten me, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am pretty sure that the burgandy ones are the places you didnt go to, and the red are the one's that you went to via that landmark

I'll give you an example. My HI Landmark is Red as is my Waterhead. My Volunteer HQ is burgandy. Waterhead I created. HI and VHQ were given to me. I've been to all 3, so I don't think it's the answer.
Also, I have 3 parcels of land. One is red and the other two burgandy. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the amount of time or number of visits.

They seem to get prefixed with exclamation marks for some reason too, one of mine has two of them, I'd presume that's the amount of times they've been used, but doesn't appear to be the case.

Red - you have not used the landmark to TP. Burgundy, you have.

I tried a few red landmarks and they didn't change color.

They *should* change after a relog, but... I'm not seeing the changes reliably myself either right now. Hrmmm. I went through several and one changed after a relog. Gonna clear cache and do s'more.

And also--ah, Red should be the color a landmark turns AFTER you TP to it. Yeah, doesn't quite make sense... since Red is all like "Hey pick me! I'm attention-getting! You haven't used me yet!"

I answered this in SL Answers previously too.

I have 4 landmarks that I use frequently. HI, Waterhead, VHQ, and Home (since for some reason my home point keeps getting reset to the location I was at when I last logged out.)

For some reason, even after a relog, those listed remain constant to those colors.

So, if I understand right, this is how it should work: (we have a saying in online banking when things don't work as they should, it's called WAD - "Working As Designed" :) )

Red is that you've actually visited the location - either after you've been given the landmark or created it.
Burgandy is that you've yet to visit that location - either after you've been given it or revisited after you created it.

That'll be Help Island resetting your home position to wherever you land after teleporting away, it doesn't care if you're a volunteer or not :(
If you teleport home off HI it'll preserve your home pos, so I recommend teleporting home before where you wanted to go.
