Based upon the suggestion in this thread, I have compiled the following sub-forums for the New Products Forum.

The New Products Forum would provide a 'catch all' and all other new product announcements would fit into the following categories:
New Products - Clothing & Accessories
Clothes, jewelry, hats, bags, shoes, etc

New Products - Body Shop
Hair, skin, eyes, tattoo, makeup, avatars

New Products - Home & Gardens
Furniture, artwork, rugs, plants, fountains, sculpture, pool, textures.

New Products - Vehicles & Structures
Prefabs, boats, cars, houses, kits, bikes, sets etc

New Products - Animations & Gadgets
Animations, poses, pose & anim. balls, dance machines, scripted gadgets

Let me know if you can think of any other categories and please provide any feedback ASAP. Thanks!

A little different from what I envisioned (I would put prefabs/furniture/garden together, and vehicles/gadgets together) but it's certainly fine with me. :)

Jeska,

The problem with this is, everyone will still be posting in the New Products Forums, since it is at the main level, and will get the first look.

My suggestion is to make the New Products forum be a container only, and add a new forum, "New Products - Misc" for stuff that doesn't fit the other categories.

That's a good point, and I've observed the same thing in other forums. Yes, having it just be a container would be best.

Is it worth separating clothing and accessories by gender? If Im looking for a new pair of jeans for myself, Im not sure I want to spend a lot of time looking at listings for new dresses.

Thanks Jeska! This is soooo needed :D I've been getting a lot of feedback specially from new designers that have had their posts buried so fast, they begin to lose confidence in themselves.

I think the container for the categories idea is a good one, and then add in a Misc/Other folder as suggested.

My only worry is with the clothing and accessories - if you look at the first three pages of New Products forum on any given day, its packed with clothes and shoes postings.

You might could break it down into two folders:
Clothing
Accessories - shoes, hats, bags jewelry etc

The rest looks GREAT!

I agree with this. I think it makes a bit more sense. I also like the idea of making new products a containter only, and maybe adding an "other" category for stuff that doesn't seem to fit elsewhere :)

Oh Wonderful! Thank you, thank you Jeska. At least we are off to a good start with the new Forum.

I vote for that container idea also. Maybe add a miscellaenous for that which doesnt fit.

This looks great! And I agree that it shouldn't be possible to post in the top-level New Products forum, b/c everyone would continue posting there to grab the most attention.

I agree with Seth I'd rather have home/gardens be furniture/fountains/prefabs/structures all in one category then have vehicles/machines/gadgets be another category.

Hi.

I took a peek at your websites...wow you must dedicate a LOT of time to your designs! AND find time to play about in SL too!
BTw is the monopoly board playable?

I keep finding so many wonderful things to do in SL i doubt id EVER get bored!

I only work p/t from home and I just cant cram enough time into what id LOVE to do here...so it always amazed me when i see the level of time & commitment others can like you...its one thing to design & display in SL but to run & advertise your own website!

How DO you manage it?

OI must be p**s poor at time management.....any tutorials on that? :D

I am glad you had time to look at my WebShots Album. The Monopoly set was made by Valfaroth Grimm, and yes it is playable. He put it up in Cayman one day and we all had great fun playing it. The players are the tokens.

As to my time, Garth and I are partners, he builds and scripts. I do some building and I do all of the marketing.

Of course the advertising you saw for SLBoutique.com ,,,,,,, that is Flipper Peregrine's site.

I agree, I'd rather have the forum work like a container also with a Misc. forum for things like Pets and other unclassifiable stuff to fit in. Don't forget you can also then search by sub-forum. So if you were looking for new dress styles in the Clothing & Accessories Forum, you could search only that forum by selecting the "Search This Forum" link at the top of the forum.

I'm going to create the following, per your suggestions:

New Products - Clothing & Accessories
Clothes, jewelry, hats, bags, shoes, etc

New Products - Body Shop
Hair, skin, eyes, tattoo, makeup, avatars, etc

New Products - Home & Gardens
Prefab structures, furniture, artwork, rugs, plants, fountains, sculpture, pool, textures, etc

New Products - Vehicles & Machines
Boats, cars, houses, kits, bikes, machinary, weapons, etc

New Products - Animations & Gadgets
Animations, poses, pose & anim. balls, dance machines, scripted gadgets, etc

New Products - Misc.
Anything which doesn't fit into the above

Should have it done before I leave this afternoon.

Jeska,

This looks great, except... The main New Products forum is still postable, and as you can see people are still posting there.

I really think clothing and aceesories need to be seperated there is such a volume of both things get buried fast.

I have one suggestion. we really need one more category for" Up and coming products" not yet released but in the making or waiting final preliminary testing etc. Otherwise ppl logically will would post to teh Misc. category where there are valid items on teh market already that need and want that attention instead of being buried behind something that may never be.

General Categories

It would be great to be able to 'find' a general category that would list the places to find your item need.

For example: Right now I would like to 'find' some pond water, it has to be rather large to fit a pond I wanna make. Now I know that the ideal would be if I could 'make' my own, but I don't do 'building' or 'scripting'. Not my thing, believe me. All I want is a BIG dollop of water to put in a shallow place to make a pond. The water I have doesn't expand that far, sooooo.

Not all of us here are interested in 'building' or 'scripting' and yearn for some simple things to use. I don't wanna make money, I don't wanna be in business--this is my 'happy' place, and the more I can escape RL, the happier I am, which means--I don't wanna expend any extra effort. Sorry if that sounds lazy, but basically, I am when I'm here.

I get frustrated when I go to 'Find' and all I can 'Find' is malls, stores and other shopping areas with specific names. Nothing in a general category.

Schizm,
You have water textures and scripts in your Library in your Inventory. If those don't work, make sure you have the "all" tab clicked on your Find. Look up waterfalls, water, hmmm, not sure what else. Maybe it will connect you with someone who is willing to share the secrets of pond making with you.

:D
