I think we need more "New Product" forums. A Designer one for sure! The new clothing, skins and accessories that come out are advertised and bumped a lot by their fans, so the ordinary post about new vehicles, trees, scanners ............. whatever plunge to the bottom of the page never to be seen again.

Please do not construe this as a complaint against the designers and their fans as I shop here too! I love to see the new stuff out and as a Live Helper whenever someone IMs and wants to know where to buy a certain item, as well as telling them how to use Find I also tell them to check out the New Products thread in the Classifieds.

Please! Just divide it up into 3 or 4 sections?

Not only will it takes weeks to set up something like that, changing the client can lead to memory leaks, bugs, and other problems.

Adding a forum is like 60 seconds on the forum administration console.

As long as it is SL related, I doubt it would be considered spam. It seems to me you are just trying to start trouble.

I am glad I have so many in agreement. I haven't thought about naming the threads though, maybe we all need a brainstorming session?

Just off the top of my head I had thought of

 1.) Clothing and accessories
 2.) Housing, Stores and furnishings
 3.) Vehicles
4.) Nursery (ie. trees, flowers, fountains and all the good stuff you might find at Armstrong's or Roger's Gardens)

 Anyhoo it is a beginning,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Thanks everyone for your positive feedback

People feel the need to get their threads bumped over and over just to have a shot at being on the front page for at least a day. Designers generate a great deal of new product daily and it can overpower other types. |

While it is nice to have your thread bumped by praise (or occasional drama), it makes it difficult sometimes to see what is in fact new, since the same thread keeps coming back to page one.

I sometimes have to go back a page or two to see what I've missed that's been pushed down. It would be nice if the latest remained on top. I also like the idea of seperating it up into sub-forums, even though I'd probably look through them all anyway. Great idea Pituca! I wholeheartedly agree - subsectioning would be wonderful Continuing the brainstorming:Avatars (including bots, mecha, full body armor and so on. I guess anything that needs a custom avshape?)Gadjets & Animations (For things like emote-a-rama, cheers, poses, anim balls, new dances etc)Home & Garden Was thinging to consolidate things for the furnishings & plants; with the recent baby boom nursery takes on its additional meaning). Good lookin out Pituca HUGGS

But here's what I wouldn't mind seeing: Animations (Dances, Gestures, Poses) Vehicles, Scripted gadgets, Particle Effects, Scripts Prim Creations (that aren't extensively scripted like vehicles) > Houses, building kits/sets Prim Creations > Sculptures, Textured plants, animals Fashion > Clothes Fashion > Skins, Tattoos Fashion > Accessories (hair, shoes, jewelry) Textures That's all I can think of right now. |

It makes so much sense to have threads in the New Products Forum listed in the order in which they are posted and unable to be bumped; that's the whole idea behind something new, after all. I could go back and bump threads in that forum for products that were posted months ago; they'd no longer be "new," but they'd float to the top of the forum just the same.

I might not get to them all right away and I use the actual "unread" label to see if new messages and/or new replies have occured in a topic. After a weekend of not reading posts I will go back three pages to at least see what I have not read and browse it over so it is marked as read usually.

How about a forum (or even just a thread) where people can post advanced news of any really exciting new products which are imminent, but not yet quite ready for the market? I've made a start here:/120/b3/47750/1.html so if any of you want to see the future, or maybe want to volunteer as beta testers (rewarded by a free final object) pop over and have a look see. My interest is in sophisticated scripted behaviours, so I think you'll find they really are quite fun. Why not add your own pet projects to the thread, so others can enjoy your excitement too ? |
