{this is role play for the Elf Clan, Orc, and related groups}

Help! I have been captured by the Orcs! Please come rescue me!

On Monday morning, I found a huge flag attached to the castle in ElvenGlen! This upset me! In my dismay, I called it ugly. Little did I realize that it was of an orc.

The orcs denied planting it, and then Chuina stated he had been shot in the chest by an arrow shot by a "pinkie." His armor stopped the arrow, but did not save the soul who shot him. We know not who it was for the body has disappeared.

Some wonder if this is a prank played by tricksters. Others are blaming the Orcs. I went with a group to talk with the orcs, but upon entering the portal to their room, was dumped to the ground! Upon attempting again, I was captured and sent into limbo.

At this moment, I am sending my thoughts out far and wide as I twist here in the sky.

Please come help me!

Forcythia

{Elven use only honorable means to find me, but watch for the day of death!}

(Later edit: Elf Clan and Waagh players feel free to post in this forum; it is open to all. :D) (Also, ignore what Lady Forcythia said about this being Role Play. It's real. The orcs tricked her into saying that so they can take over elven lands.)

The Orcs declared war and invaded Elven Lands with all due haste. Due to a slight miscalculation of strength, about 4 orcs found themselves facing about 20 elven (predictable, when the entire Orc clan is 29 compared to 428 in Elf Clan, however... Orcs aren't great mathematicians).

However, what they lack in math, they make up for in... well, whatever they do. Elven tried to storm the Orc stronghold by using the main portal for entry. Little did they forsee that the Orcs had reset the portal to send any entrants into LIMBO, from which they either had to teleport out or relog. (must give credit where credit is due). During this, the Lady Forcythia was kidnapped and whisked away to parts unknown.

While the elven were busy trying to rescue themselves and friends from that mess... and still capture the Orc stronghold... the Orcs decided to make a new stronghold-- in ElvenGlen Castle (which the Elven apparently had not thought necessary to guard). The Orcs stormed the castle (or rather, walked in) and barricaded the museum entry and put their Orc blockade in front of the main doors.

In the meantime, the Elven tried to call a war counsel, which failed miserably because it required talking with Orcs... who agreed to the counsel mainly so they could further declare war.

The Elven decided to invade the Orcan Embassy... however, the Orc Warchief had stationed himself there just in case of such an attack, and as I write is currently fending off a dozen Elven. Seems to be holding his own too, for while Elven are obligated to fight honorably... Orcs have no such restraints.

I fear that the Orcs have been one step ahead of the Elven all the way thus far. Until our Elven start planning ahead, who knows... this may become ORCLAND before the day is out!

:D

UPDATE! 2pm game time: while the Orcs had put up their blockade in front of ElvenGlen Castle, they failed to barricade or post guard. Solomon worked around their blockade and re-captured ElvenGlen Castle, then set up guard on the castle steps. ElvenGlen Castle belongs to Elven once more!

Help!!!!!!
12-19-2005 14:04
My dear Elf Clan!

I overheard the orcs as they talked about something happening at 4:00! I asked that nobody be hurt, and they actually told me they, the orcs, would NOT attack anyone at 4:00 this day!

Can we trust them?

As mentioned, Lady Forcythia has been captured. Solomon has found a clue atop an orcan tower, but knows not what to make of it. What further clues may be throughout the sims, detailing the dastardly deeds behind this war between the Elves and the Orcs? Further developments are due, I am sure.

The Orcs have sent the following note to Elf Clan:

"We do not plan to attack at 4pm today. Ya don't has ta post guards or prepare stuff or nuthin'. We gots no plans to attack at 4pm. Really."

We await to see what transpires.

Update 12-20-2005 8pm
12-19-2005 20:34
Well, here is the update to date the latest news that is news in Elven lands...

Mind you, I'm receiveing a lot of this secondhand as I am off in far-off lands looking for an ultimate anti-orc device... I have heard of it, but it has yet to be found...

The orcs didn't attack at 4pm, just like they promised. They cancelled it. Unfortunately, from what I hear, ONE orc and a goblin didn't get the news....

That one orc kept about a dozen elven very busy for nearly an hour.

The tales vary, but from what I hear, the orc attacked the castle using bombs. Several elven repelled the creature, but it just kept coming back. Then it pulled out a slingshot and sent many elven flying. Elven tried to spell it and trap it, but little seemed to have effect. The spells did not last long enough to get through its thick hide.

By the time the orc had thrown multitudinous bombs and the elves tried to repel the attack... so many prims had been generated it very nearly crashed the sim.

(Apparently that old, irritating bug still exists that when too many prims are generated, rather than stopping further prim generation, the system starts deleting already existing prims. One has to wonder why this has not been fixed, as all it would require is a simple logic line: IF PRIM GENERATION= TRUE AND PRIM ALLOWANCE AT MAXIMUM, DISALLOW PRIM GENERATION. However, that seems somehow to elude the powers that be, and sim crashes continue. Fixing this problem would render grid-crashing griefing a thing of the past. Yes indeed, one must wonder...)

Due to prim destruction, a sim rollback was required, which unfortunately also eliminated the various "clues" that had been spread throughout ElvenGlen. Alas.

A "war counsel" was called at the Tavern that evening and Xolu brought his scripting powers to bear. The following changes have been made to game plan:

* Please wear your RPG CUBE when playing. Anyone attacking another player while not wearing an identifier cube shall be considered in breach of sim no-griefer policies. An RPG CUBE-bearing player shall be considered "fair game" during rpg play (which continues through Wednesday).

* Anyone wanting to take a break should remove their RPG cube and exit battle areas. The Tavern in ElvenGlen is also considered "neutral ground".

* Due to prim limitations, "fired weapons" battle is prohibited everywhere but Aardvark park sim. NO fired weapons shall be used at ElvenGlen. Thanks.

* Xolu has crafted orcan battle axes and elven swords. Hand-to-hand combat shall be allowed on PUBLIC elven and orc lands (such as the castle, orcan areas, enchanted garden). Please stay OUT of the marketplace and residential lands. Zekeen's Castle is legal RPG area.

* Fired weapon combat shall be allowed on AARDVARK PARK sim ORCAN LANDS only. No fired weapons may be used anywhere else.

* ABSOLUTELY NO GUNS or other modern weaponry. This is a FANTASY simulation.

* Please use ONLY prescribed, provided weaponry. We simply cannot risk crashing a sim with non-tested, unsanctioned weapons. Thanks for understanding.

* Capture spells (cages etc) may be used by Elven. Orcs don't have magic ability. Please read the following spell guidelines:
INVISIBLE or PERMAREZ cages and devices are prohibited. Such spells must be visible, and they should self-destruct after no more than 1 minute. (We had many spell objects remain on the sim rather than self-killing as they should, thus the near crash). No invisible prims should be used. If you're not sure what a spell does and don't know how to modify it to fit within guidelines, please ask an experienced spellcaster for help and test it in safe places.

* As a note: Orc weapons will be a tad stronger than Elven to make up for the difference in numbers (and of course, an Orc's greater strength). Speaking of strength.. don't get too close to them (or at least, try not to breathe...). ;)

* We do expect several Orc attacks over the next couple of days. Players are cautioned to be ready at all times, especially if an orc says "No, we not gonna attack." Remember who we are dealing with and prepare accordingly. :D

Is this RPG or a real Orc attack? Remember War of the Worlds... who's really certain? If the Orcs win, do they get the elven lands? You may be fighting for your very homes and life as you know it!

Can I use full power spells ? If not, can I simply let my Dragons lay the smack down on'em ?

Also, the clue found on top of the orcan tower is obviously an arrow pointing left...

Geeze.. I am afraid to leave in case I miss something, and I am falling asleep at the computer. I wish there was some way to post the history... I feel like I am in a orcan/elven soap opera.. without the sex, but plenty of lies and deception.. (but not by elven, of course.)

I cannot fight when I don't know why. I cannot believe that elves attacked the orcs without provocation - I believe some imposters and makers of dark magic are at work, and both elves and orcs are the victims.

I am an Elf and an orc, and proud. But first and foremost, I serve the lady of the elves, and as long as she remains imprisoned, I will fight for her release. My blood boils!

Spells are limited to "capture/cage" type spells or other unoffensive "effects" spells (spellcasters, please read the spell guidelines listed prior in this thread). No offensive "hit" spells allowed (we had someone using a spell yesterday that-apparently unknown to the caster--slammed the target user 5000+m into the air. That's not fun). Sanctioned offensive weaponry is being provided by the GMs.

Oh, did I say GMs? I meant Clan Eldars and Orcan Leaders decided on acceptable weaponry after War Counsel. This is a real Orc attack. Ignore the man behind the curtain... :D

And also remember that Orcs are not always relegated to the realms of honor. They may do an "unsanctioned" thing from time to time. ;)

And the best part is that no one (as far as I know) has caught on to the fact that the gnomes are playing both sides against each other! After the orcs and elves have expended themselves in titanic struggle, we gnomes shall march in and claim it ALL none the worse for wear.

Note posted in taverns
12-20-2005 13:14
(First attempt to post so I hope this works. This message would be
found stuck in both taverns, written in a flowing, spidery script.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Good day to all residents of ElvenGlen.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate all Elf Clan participants
from last evening, for completing basic combat training with
flying colours, maces, bodies, and so forth.

Secondly, I would like to express my sincere thanks for the
generous free lesson time donated by Waagh members,
who vigorously contributed to the Elf Clan session mentioned
above.

Thirdly, for those of ElvenGlen who need no real reason to enjoy
the thrill of the fight, regardless of friendship or honour, I wish
you the grand and glorious battle you deserve.

However, if you of Elf Clan have changed allegiance, do
you seek to kill your own friends, family and kind, to avenge
the attack on an orc by an unidentified assailant, or for the
sake of keeping Lady Forcythia imprisoned? Perhaps you have
switched sides to defend the outnumbered "underwaaghs," but
keep in mind what you are really choosing.

An unknown flag is planted by an unknown infiltrator; an
unknown assailant attacks an orc; Lady Forcythia is held hostage
by unknown means in an unknown place; and a stranger wanders
the land in his mocking. Which of these none-too-solid reasons
have you used to justify the slaughter of your own?

I urge you to examine your reasons before your choices bring
about a fresh round of kinslayer wars. Should we not rather
cut the strings that bind us all to the twitch of the unseen
puppet master?

G.

Reminder Of Game Guidelines-important
12-20-2005 15:19
A basic reminder of game essential guidelines:

* Elf Clan Charter is still in effect. So keep it fun... keep it legal.

* NEUTRAL ZONE, OFF-LIMIT AREAS: Marketplaces. ElvenGlen Tavern. Private residence lands. Anyone found fighting in these places is subject to the ol' BOOT for a day.

* OK areas: ElvenGlen Castle, Zek's Merchant Fortress, Magik's lands, Southern Elf Haven, Aardvark Park Orc areas, Sandbox, central Enchanted Gardens.

* Sanctioned hand-weapons only (see ElvenGlen telehub). Limited spells allowed (see previous posts). Orcs have other nasty tricks. NO HEAVY-PUSH WEAPONRY ALLOWED. NO GUNS.

* DO NOT, under any circumstance, attack anyone not wearing an RPG cube.

K, that's about it. Remember these sims are residential, not PvP. Yesterday went very well except for excessive prim damage (which really was a fault of SL, not players). So keep to the guidelines, play with honor, and things should be fine.

Have fun!

Any place in this game for those who don't like fighting?

OK, silly question. Sigh.

{{{There are plenty of clues around the sims. Attempts to talk to those who are involved and to help problem solve are decent alternatives to fighting. Taking pictures of what is occurring would be appreciated, so as to chronicle this event.

Also writing future quests without fighting would be welcomed! Observe what goes well, what needs tweaking, and bring in fresh ideas. This event has occurred on the spur of the moment, and is succeeding beyond belief!

Thank you everyone!}}}}

Use Elf Clan Gathering

All RPG players:
Please join the Elf Clan Gathering group and switch all game IMs to that channel. We're receiving polite SPAM complaints about use of main IM system lately, and those complaints are valid. So as it has been, Elf Clan IM is business-use only; please use Elf Clan Gathering for game chat. Thanks!

UPDATE 12-21-2005 10pm
12-20-2005 22:32
What a day this has been!

There were minor skirmishes all day long. The Orcs holed up in Magik's Castle and prepared for the invasion they knew was to come. Throughout the day, none prevailed over the other. But then, finally, at 8pm, the battle cry sounded.

The Orcs awaited the approach of the Elven attackers, knowing they were outnumbered. But they had planned. The only walkway to the castle drawbridge was strewn with mines that could not be avoided. Beyond that were damage shields. Atop the castle had been placed huge enchanted boulders that would fall down upon the Elven and then reset themselves to fall yet again on the next passerby.

But the Orcs were not prepared for what the Elven had planned. A Rock Elemental was among their ranks. If an Orc ever experienced anything close to fear, they felt it at the sight of the 30 foot tall lumbering monster. The sound of its roar made Orc and Elven blood both run cold. The Elven stormed the castle, the Elemental coming toward the Orcs with alarming rapidity.

The first of the elven hit the mines... but amazingly, it was those that followed who suffered the serious casualties. Perhaps blinded by the bulk of the behemoth, they could not see the mines as clearly. The elemental walked through the mines unscathed, its stone form hardly feeling what to it must have seemed insignificant vibrations. It plowed through the orc guards, scattering orcs everywhere.

But a single troll stood his ground and to everyone's amazement, the Rock Elemental went plunging into the water below! Even the troll had difficulty believing he had actually managed to divert its mass over the edge of the bridge into the water!

In the meantime, the Elven stormed the gate. Weapons clashed against weapons as the two groups fought. The Orcs were seasoned, experienced fighters. The elven were inexperienced but brave. Despite the greater numbers of elven, the orc defenders stood them toe to toe. The elven fell in greater numbers due to the skill of the orcan fighters, but in greater numbers attacked the fewer orcs. Neither side considered defeat.

Much to the terror of the orcs, the Rock Elemental managed to clamber up the side of the steep water ravine and back onto the drawbridge. Nothing could stop it now; if such a creature knows anger, it had a faint glimmer. Its small, stone brain knew one goal: get through the castle door. And get through it did. It hit the door and pushed. And pushed. The door held fast at first, but then two, three elven joined the huge beast. The door could not hold against such an immense creature, and slowly it gave way. The Elven forces were in the castle!!!

For the better part of an hour they fought one of the finest melees ever seen. The giant Rock Elemental waded its way back and forth across the floor, scattering orcs everywhere. They tried to fight off the elven, but they could not keep their feet against the huge beast. What could they do?

Once inside, the Rock Elemental had its next goal: get upstairs and take the second floor. But it could not get up the stairwell with its immense bulk. But Rock elementals are not without their own magic; suddenly it shrunk in size until it was no larger than twice the size of an orc! It still held considerable mass and could go almost anywhere it wished, but at least now an Orc could battle it! And battle they did. The creature charged back and forth across the floor, but they struck at the beast over and over and over, and finally it fell before their repeated blows, struggling to regain its feet.

In the meantime, the Elven, inexperienced though they were, tried their best to attack the orcs. They were headed toward the second floor, but none could achieve that elusive goal! But suddenly, the Rock Elemental, its dim mind realizing what the Elven were still attempting... started to push its way toward the staircase. The orcs tried to stop it but could not halt its single-minded goal. It pushed orcs up the staircase and off the staircase as it went round and round the spiral. The elven followed it, equally intent on reaching higher ground and securing the upper floor.

But alas, a space warp occured in the fabric of SLcode and as soon as they reached the second floor.. the floor became as mist and the Rock Elemental and elven all fell through it! The entire castle began dematerializing beneath them. Some fell through the first floor into the water below and even through the earth itself into the mystical land of limbo.

Some were able to retain solid footing... and the fighting continued until both the Orcan leader and the Elven leader realized neither side held the upper hand. The Orcs though experienced, were unprepared for fighting a monster, and the greater Elven numbers granted the orcs no boon. The elven were not experienced enough fighters to hold off the orcs, so boths sides gained no ground. Finally, the Elven leader called out "ENOUGH! LET THE FIGHTING STOP!"

As if one, the entire group came to a standstill, as both elven and orc awaited the next command. Even the stone beast dimly perceived something had changed in the plan and stood still, uncomprehending.

"I and the orc leader shall fight!" the elven cried bravely. "The winner shall decide the fate of the moment!" Alas, some among the elves considered the decision more foolish than brave, for it was obvious to all that the elf leader was no match for the Orc leader. What reason did the elven have for such a rash decision? Had he and the orc leader already come to an agreement, but had to present the outcome in battle to appease honor?

A magical fighting ring appeared outside the castle, and elven and orc alike took seats to witness the battle-- which was over all too soon. The elven fought with honor-- the orc fought with guile. A punch was followed by mini-bombs, continually keeping the elven off his feet. It was not so much a battle as a slaughter and in the end... the elven quickly and honorably admitted defeat-- much to the surprise of all.

Equally of surprise was their agreement: the orcan lands would be returned to the orcs, and the elven castle to the elves! What kind of agreement this.. to end up as it all started out?

But no, not completely, for the orc chief had one demand: that the orcs place a flag atop Magik Castle to commemorate their victory. Angrily, as if some prior agreement had been betrayed, the elven leader reluctantly agreed, and the Orcs declared victory over the day!

After which, everyone went to the dance floor and great fun was had by all. :D

Coming Wednesday, Dec 21, 6-8pm: The Final Resolution
Who shall win, the Elven or the Orcs? Shall Lady Forcythia be rescued?
We shall see!
