Yes... it could be a good idea the problem is the resources involved to make such a thing (read: money mainly).
Also it would be good to know how many people would be interesting in something like that. Is out there many people that would like to play in there? I bet there is many but... how much of those would be interesting in a Westeros sim?

From: Aliasi Stonebender After a second discussion, I'm going to be starting a modern day "paranormal investigator" type roleplay; I shall post a detailed message here when I get some of the details hammered out. AGH! I'm interested.

Great system and is exactly what you are talking about. We play this from time to time. The DM buys a copy of the weekly world news and we roll dice, he picks 2 pages and builds the plot of the game from those pages. Xavier

I'll see your Palladium and raise you www.unknown-armies.com. Unknown Armies - the best damn RPG you should have heard of, but didn't. More importantly, I can explain it in five minutes. Ten if we make characters.

Thanks for the invite to the Song of Ice and Fire group, and I'd be interested in some type of role playing, if anyone is putting together something like that, and depending on system, type ,etc.

No problem at all, Gretchen. We are still a few here, Sansarya and me would like to do some RP in Westeros but we still need to see what, when and specially how.

Are there any persistent-character modern or cyberpunk roleplayers? I'd be EXTREMELY interested in that, I don't even care if there isn't an actual 'game' since I'm more interested in the roleplay aspect anyway A setting like Shadowrun would be rad-ass.

It seems VERY similar to my old favorite, "Mage : The Ascension" by Whitewolf... Which I never got to play near as much as I wanted to... (probably because our troupe was 1 mage, 1 hacker, and then a vampire who was kinda taking it seriously, and 2 werewolves who ran around, um, taking it even less seriously and spent the majority of the time "marking their territory".) About 7 years ago(holy hell I had to count twice, it HAS been that long) I was playing in what you would call very freeform, MOO's and MUCK's... And while I had a great time, it depends on the players and I definitely could stand to see more rules - anyone who's been in that sort of environment long enough knows that with the right group of people you can have AWESOME stuff develop, but just as easily with egotistical players it can become, "No, wait, my forcefield blocks out your laser AND your knife AND your telepathy AND your halatosis, AND I just discovered timetravel and prevented your birth from ever happening!" Soooo... Unknown Armies sounds very cool, if you have an open spot let me know next time you're running a game, I've been looking for some decent RP action since I got here. And while it's not manditory, I *have* been told that I play an excellent robot by more than one person.

Yes and no; a better comparison, to my mind, is a backwards Call of Cthulhu; in both you spend time encountering cosmic beasties and possibly going insane. In CoC, though, humanity is ultimately an unimportant microbe on the planet with no greater significance; in UA, it's ultimately all "our" fault.
