I've noticed two changes for the worse when placing down objects.
- You can't rez objects as far away from your avatar as you could before. - You cant rez objects as close to each other as you could before.
Before, I was able to throw trees and grass down at speed from distance. Now, I have to be right on top of where they're being planted, and it will also not allow me to place trees close to other trees. If I try to drag a tree from inventory onto an area of land which is within approx 2-4m of another tree, I get the 'crossed circle' icon, and can't place them down.
Is this a known issue, a bug, or an unfortunate consequence of something else?

OK this is still a problem. I do a lot of planting in a day heh, so this is seriously slowing me down. Does anyone know if this a known issue?

I don't think it's known. This and other rezing problems I've been having make me think that we are now more limited in distance for rezzing (which sucks) and that the client is having a rough time with alpha textures as they relate to where your cursor is (i.e., you cant rez *on* a tree, and now the client sees the broad blades of the tree's low-rez self and your rez fails) (oh, and this sucks worse).

Do you think this is realated in any way to the report I've read about less geometry being rendered? Post about that.

I've noticed this too. I'm getting lots of odd behavior when dealing with trees.
Generally, I rez a large prearranged group of trees and then adjust them. After the larger trees are placed, I come back with small plants such as ferns.
Now, when I try to select a tree, it often selects a different tree from the one I would expect and that used to be selected. Sometimes I have to get the camera extremely close to select a particular tree. Sometimes I have to pan the camera around to find a selectable angle. This was never a problem before.
The selectable area of a tree appears to be a bounding box now, rather than the displayed part of the tree. When I try to come back with the small ferns and such, I now have a difficult time finding a place on the ground that it will accept as empty. Again, I have to move the camera close and around.
Not fun and it's slowing me down too.

I suspected along the same lines. Is this something we are stuck with for good now? Or is there any way round this? It majorly sux!

rezzing problems

I don't think it's just trees. I've been having trouble rezzing anything near the ground, especially small items. I finally gave up and set a big box out and rez'd stuff on top of it, no matter what I tried I couldn't drag stuff from my inventory right in front of me.
It happens off and on all day long. I'm getting completely fed up with building.
