v1.8 preview: If I buy land, will I go up a tier level?

Same question I posted for 1.7 preview:

On the main grid I own 1536 sq. m. If I buy land on the 1.8 preview grid, will I be put into the next tier?

When I go to buy a 256 sq. m. plot, I get the attached message. The message is wrong because I don't own any preview grid land and own 1536 sq. m. on the main grid.

When I click the Buy button, I get the message about having to approve the purchase. I click the Go Now button to go to my account and land fees. There's nothing about new land purchased.

Anybody know?

Edit to add: About land shows "Sale Pending". I can build only because anyone can build, but I can't change the About Land properties or terraform.

It shouldn't go into a sale pending status, mine didn't, I went over my tier and it didn't do anything.. Are you in one?

Thats very odd.. I don't understand that.. I'd file a bug report.. its never happened to me..

Philip said during 1.7 preview it didn't count towards your tier, but I just found a new thread. Where he says it and then people say differently..

But I could go above tier in 1.7 and I'm pretty sure I did today on 1.8..

It's interesting to note that there were four plots of land for sale arranged 2 x 2. One is still for sale, I own one, another person owns one that is also in a sale pending state, and the last is owned in apparently a normal state.

I IMed the person who owns the land in the apparently normal state to ask how the sale was completed.

If I figure something out, I'll post it.

Hmm sorry I couldn't help.. I'm sure I've read numerous places it wont count towards your tier.. I had a huge amount of land in preview 1.7..

Just saw your replies (posts #7 and #9) after submitting my last post. Interesting info. I'll find out in 48 hours if I get to keep the land.

Sucks if I don't. I apparently lose the land AND the money paid for it.

I'm in the same boat (and a parcel over)

I got the same sale pending message, with now way to confirm it. I did file a bug report on it.

Unfortunately, like Hugsy, it brought me down to L$1.

On the good side, I'm pretty sure if you explain the situation to a Liason, they'll throw some extra preview cash at ya. Its just play money, after all.

I've been meaning to upgrade my membership on the Main Grid to Premium for a week or so.

This morning, a buddy (a fellow Basic and I) hit Preview to have a look around. We decided to pool resources to get a little place to play, and since I was meaning to upgrade anyway, I logged out, upgraded to Premium, and logged back in to Preview...

...except the Preview Grid apparently only remembers my membership type from the time my agent snapshot was split off to spawn the Preview world?

Ah, well, at least I have a few extra Lindens a week on the MG, and can finally hunt down a place for a home there. Meanwhile, if you log into Preview, please be nice to me. I'll be the not-too-bright guy sleeping on the streets

Land in preview doesnt count towards your real tier, but your actual account on preview does need fake tier to buy land, ie you need to be a premium member and have free tier, this can be seen in the my land window, if a sale is pending you need to contact a linden who works the preview grid on monday, if you're a basic member and want land you can ask them to bump your account to premium.

As this is likely to be a short preview im not sure if there is going to be much land made available
