Sorry for the cross-post, guys... Roberta Dalek & I are putting together a "lag party" in the Preview Grid in DaBoom at 5pm PST Wednesday to test the new Ghosting fix. Please bring your hoochie hair, color changing shoes, particles... whatever. The goal is to emulate a busy party environment - then rez objects, and see if ghosting is observed. If we can get 10-15 folks to show up, it would be much appreciated More details are in the general forums on this thread: /120/f8/38129/1.html Thanks in advance for your help! Travis

Sorry, the hoochie hair dispenser is broken. In fact, I think it was using one of your scripts, Jack

I did a little test of my own. Ill grant you, I was alone but I tried on every avatar( if you know me, you know I have alot) , including a few of Yadnis, all the folders in my objects folders. The entire contents of the Sim Cast combat systems folders, vehicle folders etc etc. No ghosting. Twice I got a cannot create object or attach objects, wait a few seconds I did, did a detach all and it worked fine. One disturbing thing I hope is only because its a test server. It told me ona couple avies Nitro, Golden Chocobo and my Beloved wings from the Royolus avie of Damien fates's, were not able to be created because they weren't in the database.

Heh, turn on shell casings for a Seburo or two and fire away like mad (rubber bullets please). They're little phys objects IIRC too, so it could be interesting.

Well the test is over and thanks to everyone who helped great a sim FPS of 5 and time dilation of 0.1!
We had *no* ghosting! We saw a new behaviour where an object would ghost for a couple of seconds and then poof.

It would be great if anyone cares to organize additional group testing for ghosting and post results here. Specifically, the sort of testing you will want to do:
Create and delete objects and attachments in an environment with lots of avatars, under conditions where avatars are frequently leaving and arriving at the scene.
Under these conditions, the bug we found would often cause ghosting to occur as a result of the simulator becoming confused as to which objects it had send information about to which avatars, and failing to transmit 'kill' messages (those which tell your user to delete an object from view) for different objects.

OK we'll organise another one as long as you promise to stop in and say hello Philip! I propose tomorrow (Sunday the 13th) at 6 p.m. PST ... notice too short? --Jack Lambert edit - changed the date to something valid
