Know what's funny? This is the first time I've checked the forums since that post.

Subtract another two months from that date and you'll get an aproximation on the last time I logged in.

Huh.

Do we really want everything to work 100%?

Imagine the senerio that SL worked flawlessly 100% of the time.... being late for meetings, you haven't finished that build on time, your scriptor has messed up the code and things don't run properly... who are you going to blame? Certainly not SL/LL... now its your own incompentecy that will shine through. What SL/LL represent to us all, it a 'get out clause'.

The same is used in RL business, they blame faxes and or emails, post etc from not being recieved on time if at all, to cover up their lateness in dealing with client issues. Sickness is another one, holidays etc.. the list goes on. We are for the most part a 'blame culture', using the excuse 'well you know what SL is like' cover a wide variety of sins and replaces the fax machine, email losses, post not being delivered etc..

Just think how many times you have blamed SL/LL for issues that were in your control?

One of the main differences about the growing business VR environment, is our offices do not have doors or receptionist/secretaries to fend off the flood of people that want to make contact with you, nor is there and real indicator that you are busy when they do. For the most part, they see you online and that makes you accessible. What do you do, ignore their IM contact?.. what happens when the TP right into your office? Every client and potential client has you right at their fingertips.
Its a whole new learning curve for anyone in business... social interfacing.

QFT

I think this does happen a lot. Still, even in SL i can usually tell a real "I never got your IM" from a fake one ;)

- "Can you prove it didn't?"
- "No... but I am pretty sure about it."
- "Well, ok, here goes"

I managed it somehow. Probably by skipping the re-hash.
