Hi I was Thinking as there are already group functions You guys should consider adding functions for titles as it would be very useful for in some instances.
although i cant think of any examples right now im sure somebody with some creative feedback or personal experiences has some idea on how this would benefit "Second Life"
Thanks

Can you provide more details about this idea? What exactly do you mean? Can you give any example of its use?

It seems odd that such a vague post would get a response from a Linden staff member.

Guess if I want a Linden response I'll just suggest something like "I was thinking, maybe you could, like, make Second Life better, you know, like improve it some way or another. I can't think of any examples right now."

Or was Kelly's response an example of dry humor?

I think what he asked for is function to check whether a person is in a certain Role in a Group? At least that is what I have wanted myself...

Ah sorry SuezanneC, forgot I wasn't supposed to partake in the forums, or even read this section. ( <-- yes that was dry humor )

I *think* he means lsl functions, but I'm not sure. I thought that would be something you would be interested in SuezanneC? In any case, it piqued my interest just enough for a 5 second query for more info. Apologies if that offended you. :)

Titles--Kelly Linden I Have Two

Dearly Darling Kelly,

Actually, for the few of us that do banking for our groups, especially the In-world charities Treasurer and Recording Secretary would be handy.

Ever Yours,

Mrs. Showdog Tiger

I would love Treasurer abilities. I usually just refer to the collection of features required for this as the Group Bank.

What would a 'Recording Secretary' be able to do?

I did not think of this when I was drawing up my list of feature suggestions for SL, but I'll explore some ideas about group banking now.

How about a system with the following group role permissions :
1-> can see group finance records (of deposits, withdrawals, etc).
2-> can deposit money to the group account.
3-> can request a withdrawal of money from the group account. Reasons must ALWAYS be provided with withdrawal requests, and show in the group's records.
4-> can approve/deny withdrawal requests on the group account.

This would enable group members to deposit funds or request money from the group treasury. Group treasurers would be able to see the group's financial records and approve/deny withdrawal requests which are made. Withdrawal requests would be limited to those with a certain group role ability (to prevent them being spammed).

This sort of setup would be useful for :
* charities taking L$ donations from members
* companies wanting to pay their staff

It would be designed to :
* make sure logs were there for inspection if need be
* avoid the potential problem of spamming requests
* make withdrawals subject to approval so rogue people can't drive the group into debt.
* automatically reject withdrawals which would give the group a negative balance (to avoid one person joining a group, getting it into debt, then leaving SL)

Another money-related feature that would be nice is the ability to set up the SL equivilant of direct debits (from one avatar/group to another) that automatically transfer a certain amount of L$ (or better yet, USD) from one to the other on a regular cycle.

dictionary.com tells me that a Recording Secretary keeps records of meetings, whereas a treasurer manages money.

Dearly Darling,

A Recording Secretary funtions as an oversight party for the President and Board of Directors esp. when the Treasurer takes in a great deal of Linden/USD. The Recording Secretary also acts as the body within a group to keep track of all transactions. For example when I recieve a donation for the Second Life Support Lotto the name and the amount are turned over to Maneo Suntzu (our Recording Secretary) who sends a thank you note to the contributor and keeps a cross-reference log of money recieved and money spent. Once a month, after our group awards the monthly winner of the Premium account and 512 Linden stypend to the winner. Maneo and I look at the books and make sure they match. A report is then broadcast to our Group with the amounts in each bank at the end of the month. We have several banks in SL so that totals for various projects are not comingled. As another example recording Secretary is also responsible for making sure that corespondence to the Group gets to the right person to take care of what ever issue is in that missive.

It' just handy to keep the Main Officer in a Group such as ours free to do his work with out over-burdening one person.

It also gives people intersted in learning more about a group the right contact person with out getting lost in the shuffle.

Ever Yours,

Mrs. Showdog Tiger
