I did not think of this when I was drawing up my
list of feature suggestions for SL, but I'll explore some ideas about group banking now.
How about a system with the following group role permissions :
1-> can see group finance records (of deposits, withdrawals, etc).
2-> can deposit money to the group account.
3-> can request a withdrawal of money from the group account. Reasons must ALWAYS be provided with withdrawal requests, and show in the group's records.
4-> can approve/deny withdrawal requests on the group account.
This would enable group members to deposit funds or request money from the group treasury. Group treasurers would be able to see the group's financial records and approve/deny withdrawal requests which are made. Withdrawal requests would be limited to those with a certain group role ability (to prevent them being spammed).
This sort of setup would be useful for :
* charities taking L$ donations from members
* companies wanting to pay their staff
It would be designed to :
* make sure logs were there for inspection if need be
* avoid the potential problem of spamming requests
* make withdrawals subject to approval so rogue people can't drive the group into debt.
* automatically reject withdrawals which would give the group a negative balance (to avoid one person joining a group, getting it into debt, then leaving SL)
Another money-related feature that would be nice is the ability to set up the SL equivilant of direct debits (from one avatar/group to another) that automatically transfer a certain amount of L$ (or better yet, USD) from one to the other on a regular cycle.
dictionary.com tells me that a Recording Secretary keeps records of meetings, whereas a treasurer manages money.
