Anyone else getting this generic error and not being able to get in?

Gah. I've never had any problems logging into SL before on any other update, though I've heard lots who have. But here I am, having tried to log in for an hour and consistantly getting the boot with the generic error message. I've un-installed and re-installed the client twice, and still nothing

Am I alone in this or is it happening grid wide?

Here too. I successfully logged in once but then, as usual, five minutes into my session SL crashed and I had to reboot. Now I am getting the "Despite our best efforts.. blah blah blah" message when I try to log in.

yep - me too. I got the 'your computer's clock might be wrong' message (!), restarted and now get the 'Something unexpected has happened' message....

Ive gotten that message as well as one about my clock on my computer not being right.. wth is that? I cant get in either... these updates are getting more ridiculous everytime. First off most all of my clothes are ruined because of glitches, and no Linden gets back to me, now this not even being able to log in. I came back after 6 months just a week or two ago, and now Im almost wishing I didnt...

seeing it in Windows and Linux client (the Linux Client just hangs!)

SOMEONE is getting in (It shows almost 3000 people on right now), but not us!

so youre not the only ones. havnt had the clock message yet. just cant log in. Has anybody tried the toll free numbers yet?

Why do they have the test grid? I thought it should be a simple code swapping, and thats it. The way they are doing this is all messed up, and makes 0 sence.

I'm wondering if I should uninstall and then reinstall with the latest update. I'm worried that the uninstall may remove my avatar, inventory and settings. Let me know how it goes if anyone else is brave enough to try.

LOL code swapping, not really...It's more complex than that, I know this...However, That's what the downtime was for....THIS, is just plain ridiculous, most of us are PAYING members, and we cant log in...absolutely ridiculous, I count 8 friends so far that are on...yet none of us can get on...

EDIT - Just now got the clock message...Sorry but my computer's clock has NOTHING to do with SL...I could set it to SL time and it would make no difference...come up with a better error message please.

Well, hmmm what shall we do, what shall we do???

I think sometimes there are so many of us trying all at the same time that the servers just cant handle it all and the server randomly is issuing the "Despite our best efforts..." message.

I shall check back later after i put on a new roof for my house and perhaps then it will be different.

Tell then Ciao all you wonderful people out there in the dark.

OneUp, your avatar is stored on the server as well as your inventory, settings in preferences, however, you'll have to reset. Go ahead and uninstall/reinstall, I've had to do that countless times, no problems. Although, someone already said they uninstalled and reinstalled twice, didnt help them so I doubt it'll help anyone, other than lagging up the LL server even more with the added upload bandwidth.
