I rez a default cube. As soon as I move move more than 16m away from the cube, it disappears from the screen. I have all details on max, draw distance 128, no funny debug menu settings activated. It behaves the same in mouselook too. See this image. I mean, seriously, get this crap working before you cater to the whims of some 'educational' types, okay guys? How am I supposed to build with this? *kicks whoever at LL is responsibe for interest list coding and testing*

Just so you can be more accurate in your irritation: this "feature" joined us under the name of "avatar attachment culling" which appears to apply to random objects (attached or not) typically less than a meter in size.

Actually this feature has been around alot longer, its the standard LOD for objects inworld, the smaller the object the sooner it will be culled from display, it was supposed to work the same on avatars but that was broken until they fixed the bug mentioned above

The "standard" LoD controlled the facetting of curves. It took the "culling patch" to make objects disappear. Of course, short of rolling back the entire grid, it might be hard to prove this, or if I cared more, Snapzilla could be used to demonstate the advent of "bad culling". I don't think culling is - in principle - a bad thing, but the current distance and size paramters are simply incorrect (e.g. 0.5 meter multi-prim, kinematic desk fan disappearing enitrely at 20m from camera, never to return).

Objects certainly seem to be disappearing when they shouldn't if we are supposed to get the impression that we are in a perstisten virtual reality.
When I fly back and forth, right after I turn around I see objects, perhaps a building, which then, as I approach it, vanishes, then reappeaars as I continue getting closer.. Seeing things - not small things, entire buildings, vanish as you get closer to them is even more unrealistic than having them vanish when you get farther away.
