As a show of good faith, I challenge every Linden to post a reply in this thread, just to prove to us that you really are even momentarily interested in how, we, the folks who really pay your salaries (as in No Subscriber Base=No Income=No Jobs), view the fruits of your labors...the product you provide to us...come on, step right up, Mr. Linden...Ms. Linden...sign the book!

You have to use reverse psychology, Tell them they aren't allowed to post here, then maybe, just maybe, you might get a few to post...

After a day of problems like they've just had? "Ollie-Ollie in-come free!! Come out, come out wherever you are! ... we've put the guns down, honest!" If they tried raising a hat on a stick in the forums, it'd be blasted from all angles

Yeah they are looking for a new job, because if SL stays in a condition like this, there won't be anylonger people left to play it. The last week, yesterday and now again suck. I don't know where they hired their site operation team, but maybe they pay them in Lindendollars.

Actually, "word on the street" (for what thats worth...which is generally very little) is that Linden Labs can't get talented people to even apply, due to their horrific reputation for carefully considering every option concerning every issue, and then routinely choosing the very worst one.

Iridium, Of Course
08-09-2007 09:53
Once again, Iridium (formerly Heretic) proves to be a much-needed and much-welcomed exception... And (without diverting the topic at hand) that whole "issue" with Jax's theft and much-lagged AR, well, it just sucks! Again...nearly a day later...one compassionate and client-dedicated Linden who reads the forums (the only one I know who does...)...for the other Lindens...come out, come out, whereEVER you are! You know, doing this kind of thing, challenging the gods to prove their existence, well, surely LL will perceive this, wrongly again, as the tail (us) trying to wag the dog (Linden Lab), but I ask you, would you be very reassured if you started to notice that the Customer Service people at your local department store, where you've shopped weekly for years, suddenly replaced its entire Service Counter staff with answering machines and a Suggestion Box??? Even when I don't have anything to complain about, I expect businesses I patronize to demonstrate their awareness of problems, willingness to resolve them, and I expect to see the manager walking the aisles of the store every moment he/she is not actively tied up in something...knowing he/she has an office I can seek out and visit for one hour a week, well...what do you think? I think when management stops encouraging/requiring their employees to be customers in the store where they work, bona fide paying customers no longer have a good reason not to take their business elsewhere, which IS what will happen here, once there is an elsewhere...and if LL's board or the investors don't believe that elsewhere is coming, they aren't very business-world astute at all...good new ideas only have a two year shelf life, folks, just ask the pharmaceutical industry!

I'm new to SL. I spent some time in the welcome areas listening to all of the interviews of various Lindens and getting inspired by what they said. They interviewed a female who was one of the community managers and she said that she doesn't spend as much time on the forums as people think she does. She claims to have the experience enough to know where the "trouble spots" are and deals with them. However, since coming to these forums, I have never ever seen a single linden post in these forums. I think someone needs to rethink their philosophy of forum attendance.
Anyway, I'm not going to play this game anymore getting upset over lack of developer communication. Every single MMO and now SL has been the same experience. These developers just don't seem to understand that communication with the customer base is vital. And you know what? Just like the MMOs I used to play before, my support for them will only last as long as the experience remains good. And, in the case of SL, where there is no competition, you bet your ass I am waiting very impatiently for another competitor to come along and offer us a more stable and graphically up-to-date service.
LL is the Blizzard of Virtual Worlds. They do not need to listen because they are the only game in town. In Blizzard's case, they were the most popular game in town and could do what they pleased and continued to upset many customers in the process. Then you have SOE who are bending over backwards to please their customer base with EQ2 and since the game was developed it has turned into a critical success. It is the quiet MMO that gets everything (mostly) right. So where is that quiet new company designing an SL killer?

I do believe you are incorrect... Tofu Linden reads and posts at times. In fact, i've seen at least 2 Tofu posts recently. If I was a Linden, I wouldn't post to this thread either. Why would they? Like stepping into the line of fire. No thank you

No thank you LOL, not a troll-post...just a funny break in logic...how can you say that I (or anyone) am incorrect in stating what I (or they) personally see (or don't see)??? Description of empirical points of view can never, by definition, be wrong...Good one...anyway *makes note to add another tick-mark to the tally* There is no line of fire here...how could being involved be construed as a "bad thing" by any of us who are asking for them to become more in-worldly? I for one would embrace them, why wouldn't you (or anyone)?
