V1.7 loads ok and connects, but after 1 minute or so it just crashes! Every time! I have tried about 10 times now and every time it just crashes very soon after everything has rezzed.
Help!!

Presumably I can clear cache in the Preferences-Network window at start-up? I tried that, and yes, still crashes!

I was talking about your windows login name, which is where the cache files etc are stored, if you have a login name or had one that contained the letters áéíóú and are crashing within a second of loading, try creating another temporary login, where the secondlife icon will be and should work without another install.

The emptying of the cache in the hidden folder helped me at first (wasn't able to log in) but about a second later I crashed. Really. This new S.L.1.7.0.(51) sucks.

I never had such problems with logging in before. really.

Grrrr, it really has to do something with the cache-folder.

I am from Europe, using with that a European (german) keyboard. we have signs like: äöüß. I never had problems before. And now it makes me crash. how fucked is that. And no. My computer doesn't suck. If it would, i would have had problems from the very beginning and not just now. So can one of you Lindens tell me where you messed again?

it isnt anyones computer if they didnt have this problem before the update, like myself, theres nothing wrong with my computer, and SL worked fine for me until the update. Now since, i crash after a few minutes, even having cleared my cache. Its from the update, its a bug that needs to be fixed. my suggestion is bug reports. these things will happen after updates. we unfortunatly have to grit our teeth n wait it out till they find a fix for this issue, but they wont know about it unless we report the buggys heheh report report report people heheh =)~

I was ok for a few hours, just had to textures not loading probems, and that much lag i could barely walk, but now i just crash all the time too.

In Second Life look at the menus at the top of your screen. There's one called HELP click that and then see where it says REPORT BUG? Click that and be sure to write lots of goodly info.

Here's a sort of tutorial from me on how to write a bug report!

Thanks Torley, very helpful, except... I can't log into Second Life for more than about 30 seconds before I crash! That is the problem. If I could log in and stay logged in there would be no problem. I do not have time to select Help, let alone fill in a bug report, before I am crashed out.
Can I file a bug report from this website?

Yes fix this please. I re-installed game and everything but still crash after 1 minute or so passes. I believe this bug should be a priority. Look into it, I am aware that there are other issues in the new release including rez time and so forth but the fact that one can't stay logged in SL for more than 1 minute is beyond me.

another reason why you crash is that you have data in your cache-folder that makes you crash. once you log on and you crash again it is because of the land.

DON'T ENTER THE UNDERGROUND!!! THE SIM IS CALLED GARRISON OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!(don't remember the name in the full, just the club) THAT IS CRASH ZONE!!!!

A friend of mine TPed to that placed and crashed. I was in the place before the update and I crashed. if you are in that area delete your Cache, before you restart the game. TP OUT IMMIDIETLY. No long choose. JUST GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE!!!

I'd email [email]support@secondlife.com[/email] first tho to see if there's any other things you can do. Sounds maddeningly frustrating. Maybe for everyone who's experiencing this, there's some sort of common thread.

A quick exchange of emails with LindenLabs support (they were quick) told me that I needed to update my driver for my ATI Graphics Card (Radeon 9600). The old driver worked perfectly in the previous version but not with this. I have now updated and SL is working again.

crashes at precaching

everytime i load the game it gets to the Precaching and then crashes everytime... i updated my nvidia drivers and i updated the game and updated direct X and still crashes... i cant even get the to start... my computer spec.s are far beyond the system requirements...

Yes same here, I load SL and it takes so so long time to load and sometimes crashes or if I wait 5mins or less it loads up fine and regular gameplay roaming. I would like to get this version fixed please! the last version was Aok and this one sucks big time...
