Could scripted items be having 4X the effect as a result of the universal language conversion? Everytime I look at running water, I freeze. :-s (works under a waterfall!! :-s)

04-01-2005 07:07
I am having similar problem I canonly be in game a few minutes then I freeze and get a program not responding message. WAAAAH .

This is what I have done to help, updated video card driver, unistall preview and secondlife program, re-install.

Anyone have another suggestion???

Thanks, Darcy

That's not the same phenomenon, though, Jeffrey. I'm experiencing both. The lockups are one issue, the lag is another, the crashes are yet another.

Fair enough, but I'd be willing to guess they're all relevant for one consolidated discussion.

This is really beyond me, however. I tried Preview 1.6 extensively, and was fine all last night. The problems described sound to be one and the same, related largely to URL-handling and/or texture updates. As such, it seems relevant to me to point to other threads on the issue, no? ;)

They don't seem trelated to URL handling at all to me, and texture updates may or may not be part of the issue, but I have seen no evidence to suggest that they are.

I used the preview grid too without major problems.

Not Responding
04-01-2005 08:35
I have been able to get into SL and stay in game only once since the inception of 1.6 ... In over 20 logins, The program has gone into "Not Responding" all but once. I have erased my cache, and reinstalled SL, and neither has helped...

Most of the time I can't get past the login window.

I cannot remember the last time I had SL freeze before 1.6, but I think it was before 1.5

I hope they send me an email when 1.6.1 is available, because at this point, I give up.

Exactly the same problem. The SL client totally freezes. If I have it on full screen mode, I need to shut down my pc.

Sometimes I will be fine for quite a while and then freeze, sometimes as soon as I log in and try to move it will freeze.

I am having the same problem. But I crash every time I try to selecte a color in the texture tab. Not fun. My video card drivers are all up to date.

I got in last night at around 7:00 pm PST (after trying 10 or so times), and was able to spend several hours building in Cordova. The sim crashed a few times, but I was always able to relog again in a reasonable amount of time.

I used the build tools to start working on a new house, and was able to use the texture picker, the color picker, etc. When I brought up the map, there were hundreds of people in world.

I also logged in this morning for a few minutes with no problems.

There are clearly problems with 1.6 for some people, but not everyone...

I am currently having the freezing problem. I had it some last night, but was able to be in the game fine until about 10 minutes ago.

Problem changed from crashing to freezing
04-01-2005 12:24
I was having horrid you've-fallen-asleep-at-the-wheel-and-are-now-driving-on-the-corrugated-roadside sounds, then harsh crash. That turned into the auditorially more pleasant freezing (music still playing until i started turning it off upon spawning). It seemed to be freezing everytime I moved much, after that, and then the program would send a not responding message. So I am not sure how, but the one program seemed to turn into the other one. Then, as a tactic, I took my avatar with the least stuff to the sandbox right as I spawned, and that seemed to be fine. So it did seem, in some way, to be connected to where I was when I was having trouble, and perhaps, how much I have in inventory.

Not Responding ... Solved for three of us
04-02-2005 10:23
SL Freezes with "Not Responding" within one minute ,,, Usually less.

Issue solved for three of us.

Edit ... Preferences .... Graphics ... Turn off "Shadows"

Or use preferences at the login screen.
