is totally not working. This kind of BS needs to be fixed ASAP! Mail Delivery System (MAILER-DAEMON@data.agni.lindenlab.com) Aan: <MY EMAIL ADDRESS> Onderwerp: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender Bijlagen: Veiligheidsscan na downloaden Trend Micro ® logo details00000.txt (0,3 KB), This is the mail system at host data.agni.lindenlab.com. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster. If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message. The mail system <mailtoim@data.agni.lindenlab.com> (expanded from <zvusr627ote2yetrjdj4joogsuj7jzjbivdxvshock1u4wli1hn28j@im.agni.lindenlab.com> : Command died with status 100: "/opt/linden/indra/tools/mailglue/mailglue --grid=agni --system=im". Command output: Invalid instant message session. NOTE: I've altered the part before @im.agni a little for privacy reasons. It was a simple reply to that given email adres which came from SL (thus generated by the new system). In two words: WORTHLESS TRANSITION

Weird. I've been trying with all the IM's I had received yesterday and today (few different people) and I allways get the same problem...

By your first post I assume you're in The Netherlands, currently so am I. I use Gmail for SL, maybe you should try that. Had no problems what so ever.

Using hotmail.
Point is that I should not have to change email addresses just to get SL-IM and reply to work. It worked fine before.
But thanks for the input.

Please un-alter the part before @im.agni, or alter it less severely. What I'm interested in is whether or not the format of the email address is correct. I can see that mine look something like this: <wpilM8xu10sZtJ-eu8qkYD5sUhON6-jX9ABjV88qspPSs_7AL40YOQ@im.agni.lindenla b.com> What I'm wondering is whether your email client did something bad. Maybe it lower-cased the email address? Maybe it chopped off the part after the underscore? Maybe it chopped the email address at a certain length? I replied to an offline IM email yesterday and got no bounce. I also saw that my friend had replied to an IM I sent him via email. I know that because I saw his email signature in the IM (oops).

Maybe it wasn't altered. Maybe thats why it's failing.

I considered that, but the OP said it was altered. I'm wondering how much.

Yea, this is crazy. it worked fine up until about a week ago. I didn't alter my email client or make any other changes.
I did notice that if I replied to very old IMs that I had saved, it would work. It was just the new IMs that failed. Now everything fails and I can't reply at all.
This is a pretty significant problem to me, but I don't see it on LL's radar at all.

same here, I'm used to do customer support while I'm offline so people do not have to wait sometimes for a day. Now I'm cut off the grid completely, and IMs get capped way too quickly. There is no way to run a business seriously here.

The thing is, lots of us are having no problem at all with the new IM->email address format. It really makes me wonder whether your client is choking on the long addresses or the fact that they might contain underscores, or that they're now case-sensitive.

little update on my side, I sent several IMs to my husband who was offline, he received them all on his own mailbox. We're both using yahoo mail, so it's definitely not the client. I'm now wondering if SL has reset the "send offline IMs to email" preference by itself... I'll check tonight

From: Marcuw Schnook Using hotmail. If your are using HOTMAIL it might not work. Read the following knowledge base article: http://secondlife.com/knowledgebase/article.php?id=411* Outbound IM to email works for Hotmail * Inbound email to IM does not work for Hotmail * The email addresses use mixed case (UpAndDown). Hotmail appears to convert all sent email to use only lower case. More information about the e-mail return-address was on the blog a few weeks ago: http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/02/06/im-to-e-mail-return-addresses-changing/

I knew it had to be something like that. Here's a choice excerpt: From: Knowledgebase Technical details: - http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2821#section-2.4 defines what is a legal email address local part. Implementations MUST tolerate mixed case addresses, though the use of them is discouraged. So Hotmail is not following the RFC, even though we are doing something that is discouraged.
- We need mixed case because we have 40 bytes of information to encode and we're using base64 encoding, which requires mixed case.
Wow, what a shock, Microsoft isn't following an RFC and doing it the way everyone else does it?

You can add a "parity chunk" to the message that contains the upper/lowercase information for each bit and put it on the RHS. For example:
wpilM8xu10sztj-Eu8qkyd5suHOn6-jx9abjv88QSppss_7aL40YOQ @ im.agni.lindenlab.com
Would become:
wpilM8xu10sZtJ-eu8qkYD5sUhON6-jX9ABjV88qspPSs_7AL40YOQ @ F65R811HJ00.im.agni.lindenlab.com
When this comes back messed up as:
WPILM8XU10SZTJ-EU8QKYD5SUHON6-JX9ABJV88QSPPSS_7AL40YOQ @ F65R811HJ00.im.agni.lindenlab.com
The "parity chunk" would let you decode it to:
wpilM8xu10sZtJ-eu8qkYD5sUhON6-jX9ABjV88qspPSs_7AL40YOQ @ im.agni.lindenlab.com

Hi, I found the reason of my problem this week-end (email to IM was working but not IM to email) : for some reason my SL client unchecked my "send offline IMs to email" checkbox. I haven't installed anything not changed anything on my system though, it just happened without me knowing. Checked the box back and now it works again. Until when... Cheers
