I get problems rezzing inventory too... It is well and truly fu**ed.

In addition, my inventory now sorts in a manner that is absolutely inconceivable to me... What kind of pattern is that? Certainly not sorted by date anymore, and not alphabetically, so wtf?

In addition to nearly every attempt to rez an object failing, creating inventory in another object (dragging from Inventory pane to the object's Content area) fails as well.

I think it has more to do with over 36,000 people online, than with the update...

I still wonder why the problem only seems to exist for certain people...

I sometimes get 'annoyances' after a patch like rezzing taking 3-4 seconds instead of 1, or having to remove some attachments to teleport, but never anything close to what people scream and yell in caps about.

One would wonder if LL's the precise cause....

Well, I can safely say it's not on the user end. My hubby's have the problem, whereas, my account on the same computers is working beautifully.

I had him dressed all cute too! *ahems* TMI, I know...

He's suffering from the "Invisible then Ruthed," and all he sees are folders with NO objects of any sort in them. Can't even edit the appearance, since clicking on that just yields nada. Help Request can't seem to help... because I think this is on the account. If mine is fine, using the same clients and the same browser, then it ISN'T the user. Tried all the freaking work-arounds, too.

And of course, calling Linden Labs to GET help is pointless, I guess. I'm going to try it until I get ahold of someone who CAN fix this.

It's distressing to see such a short list of complaints here. This situation is beginning to seem like a standard ocurrence, no longer unusual enough even to draw comments. When people stop complaining, they start leaving. Altho SL population appears to have grown, 30,000, or even 30,000,000 NONPAYING accounts don't make a business plan. And there are a limited number of newbies out there. After Europe bails out, where will LL try to sell it next?

Not just grid teleporters broken...
03-14-2007 16:53
In-sim teleportation using WarpPos has been broken, but good.

If you bought a Superporter... I'm going to see what response Linden Labs has in the next few days, and then I'll update Superporter to use physical movement everywhere instead of just over 768 meters. I'll do my best to keep it working transparently, but you may need to modify the way you use it to deal with the changes... sorry, this was a complete surprise to me.

Hey LL, SL is almost as reliable a two tin cans on a cooper wire. I did say almost.
I would like to hear what hidden agenda LL and SL are realy working towards.
Because I draw total confusion on why they are doing what they are doing. Surely they are not attempting to create a reliable functioning Virtual world.

The "We don't give a damn in bugtesting" Lab
03-14-2007 18:08
Let me first quote from Lindens very own blog.

"Second Life will be unavailable from 6am to 12noon PDT (13:00-19:00 GMT) for the update. Please note the time change from 7am to 6am. We want to ensure a proper amount of internal testing time and so that the deploy doesn’t run longer than expected. No new client software will be required."

Thank you for realizing that it's worth to test the product before launch unlike many of the grid updates we've been hit over in the past, however in this update you not only failed to bugtest but also produced bugs i can't imagine are possible without creating them on purpose. The whole LSL scripting is a mess now, in such a big scale that i would recomend to take the grid down imidiately, vital functions like llsetscriptstate along with most of communication between scripts is totaly doped. This is like a telephone company that charges you for the phonecall but without allowing you to connect.

I thought microsoft was the worst in software development, i was so wrong.

With $1,598,599 beeing transfered inworld over 24hours it's a direct fraud to allow logins at this moment.

What if visa or mastercard is doing an update on their software at the last day of this month and without purpose fail to bugtest, maybe the tier payments will fail... will you then allow us to posess the land even if you dont get the payment ?

I know a "Failed to rez object in-world" and a "Failed to create object inventory" message when I read them :) I also know that I have seen this happen in four different sims today, it is not just my home sim.

I may not know the precise cause, but I am pretty damned good at detecting the symptom when it is written on my screen in a little blue box.

hehehe.... I guess we can both rest easy knowing the answer posted on the blog :) Well, that and the grid-wide notice that also admitted that they know not everyone is experiencing the issue :)

YES! Sl is the cause, ever since they broke up the servers to individual ones all over the USA...and who knows where else... Some servers work, some are not working... they ruined SL when they did this, with remote server locations and breaking the grid into sections run by different areas. It was never like this BEFORE they (LL) decided to go after the almight dollar, by letting all these free accounts to make the numbers look good for their having like 4,000,000 people logged into sl... (a more accurate count would be how many people have paid to enjoy SL and not just people coming in and becoming griefers to ruin SL for everyone)... think about it... do you really think its the individual? I have a very fast processor computer, resources, graphics card that is recommended by LL, run on highspeed, and have no problems with anything except when running SL, especially after the updates, but it doesn't end a few days after the update...this is a continuing problem that the LL have, and can't fix.

Let me know if you ever get through to LL. I'm a paying user, no free account here.. I own land, and they made a special phone number we paying users and land owners are supposed to be able to just get right on through... well that does NOTHING!!! lol... so if you get through to a real live person... let me know... and send us all the number you got through on... without a recording ... would be good to barrage them with phone calls...

Hey Linden Labs should be crediting all of us paying users for all the time the grid is down... with the money they are raking in on all the island owners, setup fees, etc, etc, etc, as well as all the BIG MONEY they are making promoting SL to all these big Investment companies to buy into their propaganda... that is why they use numbers like 4,000,000+ logins... instead of using real data, like when each and every one of us have to log and relog to get from sim to sim as a work-around... because we can't teleport inworld... OR, when we have to relog constantly because we get a crash in the midst of doing something in SL, and have to relog. I can tell you, I relog numerous times a day... multiply that by the 1,000's of folks getting into sl... that is where they are getting their 4,000,000+ users logged in history making numbers. Yes we are getting over 30000 users online daily... but most of us work in SL, and when we log in we would like to stay there...and do what we have to do... not just waste time relogging all day long...

Well its not just Europe that are going to bail... The way things are going, there will be mass exodus in SL because its obvious that LL created something way beyond their ability to handle. Their outsourcing to remote servers has added to the load, and lagging, and the constant problems with scripting, inventory, and their update issues on a weekly basis have made SL more of a hassle than a pleasure to most folks. Business's run in SL, that are being affected to the max with these problems of lag, teleporting, etc etc... people that pay good money (me included) do feel that we are throwing away good money after bad. I really had alot of faith in LL when I first came into SL at the beginning. But over this last year it has really gotten bad. LL used to really care, not just say they did.. if you had a problem you could talk to them, and they would try to fix the situation. Now, you can't even reach them online, NOR by land lines. Everything is all propaganda they are spewing now, nothing real anymore. They used to tell us ahead of the upgrades what they planned, they did it, and it worked! Now they just let the developers add new stuff none of us really need, and don't concentrate on the real issues that matter to us, and in the long run to them too... They may be bringing more people in game because of the advertising they do... but I would like to see the real stats of how many people who were loyal people in SL from the beginning like myself, have actually left permanently. I know of many... I don't see that LL is going to make it with this program if they do not get the problems worked out. Remember this is only the 3rd year or so that SL has been online, and it is going downhill more and more with each update... It will be a miracle to see if it will be around in another 2 years...not for lack of money making opportunities for LL, but because of the instability of the system they are running. I would love to see this be as good as they want it to be... but it just doesn't seem that it is going to from us people who have been here from the start.

Thats true, but grid downtime is just top of the mountain, i make very advanced slot machines and other money releated products, when they change a thing like llSetScriptstate my customers cannot play at all... for me this is thesame as if the grid was still down. Except: i now have the "pleasure" to receive IM's "why dont the slot work", so i have now pulled all my stuff, except stuff by other people that is ALWAYS in state running.

Please vote here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-48 the more votes, the faster they'll fix.

Anyone else still completely Ruthed? I logged in with only 16,000 users in an empty sim and I am still RUTH. And she's wicked ugly.

I spoke with Spike Linden and he acknowledged issues - but why only some accounts?

The hubby's account is still having problems with the ruthed/invisible avatar with the inventory problems. I logged it in for him, since he's at work and he asked me to do it periodically.

But we're optimistic they will get this fixed, since Char helped out and hubby sent an even more detailed email to the techs at her request.

STOP RELEASING UPGDATES THAT AREN"T TESTED
03-15-2007 13:54
I am DAMN sick of this. EVERY TIME an update (I use the term loosely as it's supposed to be an IMPROVEMENT) things are broken that WORKED BEFORE!!!

Damnit if you don't have thourough testing on the beta grid start PAYING PEOPLE to go there and try everything out.

Warp teleports are broken thatnks to screwing up the LSL command for prim states.. people are logging in and finding themselves invisible.. the old "Can't teleport directly, so teleport to the mainland first" garbage is back and so are the avatars with "missing textures".

Any OTHER MMORPG on the planet has a test grid and USES IT to test improvements for up to TWO MONTHS before unleasing it on their PAYING CUSTOMERS.

This slapdash every Wednesday fiasco is getting OLD fast.

Worse.. when issues ARE revealed in any OTHER MMORPG they PATCH the thing fast.. they don't wait for the following Wednesday.. or eve the one after THAT.. to fix it.

I mean come ON.. we STILL can't offer teleports to people unless we both friend them and then use the ONLY working teleport friend button that's at the bottom of our friends list. THAT little screw up has been on for over a MONTH and not been repaired.

I swear sometimes I wish Google or Microsoft would buy out Linden Labs.

In all fairness that was known to be undefined behaviour. Everyone using it knew that it might go away, this isn't like Joints.

And I'm saying this as someone who's turned off his sales of his teleporter until they do something about his.

Personally, I'd take them killing this and giving us llTeleportAgent() with reasonable constraints. Don't let just anyone teleport anyone, but don't kill the immersion with 'Argent Stonecutter's Doorway wants to teleport you, is this OK?' for a teleporter belonging to you or the parcel owner... and let a landowner's script bypass the parcel's own landing point.

Yep, and flying is improved. Within a single sim in the absence of other restrictions it's about as smooth as it's ever been, and with a low rate of border crossings even that's been much improved. The "unsit bug" and related problems are still there, and too many border crossings too quickly will still wipe you out eventually, but they're getting there.
