While i know many of you have busy lives with many important things to do in your limited time, please would you take a moment to hear my message and bring hope to billions of transistors worldwide.

The RSPCH (Royal Society for the Protection of Computer Hardware) is currently raising public awareness of the plight thousands of computers are facing every moment of every day.

While many modern pc's now live in a BSOD free life, there are places in the united states where server hardware is neglected daily. Their faith in the future deminished and without hope they are doomed to a life of unending and abusive torment from their human hosts.

Without care and attention, these servers face the indignity and public humiliation of crashing, increased downtime, failure in basic operations and in some severe cases........forced to work with broken tools and little hope of rescue.

Please spare a thought for the hardware located in the linden labs hosting facilities and show your support to the RSPCH and to the hardware who's only goal is to make you happy. Sponsor a server today and one by one let us give those cpu's a new lease of life.........under open source :D

OR- we could all pay more per month so LL can afford to be an actual "backbone" on the Internet instead of a just a small "branch". :D

Remember- the Internet doesnt "go down". Your ISP does. They buy a chunk of IPs from an Internet Backbone, then dole it out to customers, charging you a monthly fee.

Its really neat how alot of this stuff works!!!

I think he is.. After all, open source products like *nix and mysql could never, ever have the problems we're seeing on the grid!!

If anything a lack of donations to the RSPCH is requested. The hosts do not like this and will likely release some of their burdens on their hardware.

Spread the word and release them from their prisons of linden :P

Backbones have their downtime too. You tend to notice these things when you work for an ISP.

"While many modern pc's now live in a BSOD free life,"

That's funny, my PC lives a completely BSOD-free life. Guess what? It's run Windows XP for over 5 years.

If you have a Windows PC and you constantly have trouble with BSODs... guess what? That means you are a bad computer tech. Please take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Having been a webmaster for some years, and running our own servers across Europe and USA for our media streaming.... it is very unusual that the data centers actually have to use their 0.001% of their allowances for downtime. It's more of a potential that the backbone service providers cause issues with the connection, than a server getting to the point of giving up the ghost.

From the few breif pictures I've seen of the LL 'complex'... it looks like a DIY setup... although I've never seen a current one of their actual hardware section. DIY for me = Don't Involve Yourself...

With so much redudancy being built into hardware networks these days, sort of makes you wonder..... anyone seen any 'unofficial' pictures of LL timber shed setup and the Honda petrol 25kw generator on standby?
