1.6 relogin now impossible - fake 1.5.14 is force-downloaded

I spent some time in 1.6 preview this morning - very pleasing. This involved logging off and on again multiple times, without a single difficulty.

Some hours later I attempt to log in again, exactly as before.

But this time, I am informed that a new version is available for download. I click to download it. It automatically replaces and writes over my 1.6 preview client.

But when I run it - horror, it seems to be the old 1.5.14. Which anyway refuses to run, insisting that I redownload (presumably itself).

Luckily, I had a spare copy of 1.6, so I try again with that. Same result, except I refuse the download.

The real 1.5.14 still works, so clearly the new one is a fake (it has a modification date of today.

So in summary I have the following:

A real 1.5.14 which works
A 1.6 which worked this afternoon, but which now insists on downloading:
Something which calls itself 1.5.14, but is not, and which just attempts to download (presumably) itself.

This is the Mac client.

It is possible of course that my preferences are somehow messed up - I shall explore that next. In the meantime - is anyone else suffering the same?

I'm having the same issue.

I downloaded the client less than 30 minutes ago before the website was changed. Clearly they are doing something right now.
