Goodbye, Ulrika

I am not sure if you will see this or not, but I wanted to take a moment to publicly say goodbye to you, Ulrika. Thank you for always being unflinchingly unique, funny, and thought provoking. You will be dearly missed.

Where'd she go?

I posted in Ulrika's off-topic thread and I will post here as well. I'm saddened by Ulrika's departure. While I feel she is doing the right thing to focus on her family and her own happiness, I don't have to LIKE it. Her work with Neualtenburg has broken new ground in online communities and government. Her posts have promoted introspection, furious debate, and joyous laughter.

It's is great loss for Second Life's community and she will be sorely missed.

She has decided to leave SL to focus on her family.

Thank for all the hardwork you did for Neualtenburg, and your wonderful friendship. You will be missed by many. I wish you best of luck!

Wow. There was a time I would rejoice this news but that time has passed. Ulrika, we have had our heated battles and both gone too far defending our respective viewpoints. For the longest time I really disliked you and for me, that is very unusual. I harbored hurt feelings over my involvement in Neualtinburg but in the end that hurt me, not you.

As you know we buried the hatchet recently and I couldn’t be more happy that we did. You were once part of the reason I left the forums for a time but those feelings finally disappeared when we made nice and agreed to let the past lie for good. I know that even then we agreed that we would never be buddies and hang out but ya know what? In a strange way even though we are advisories on many fronts, I do consider you a friend. You are part of my SL family and, don’t tell anyone, but I care about you and will miss you.

I know that you will cringe at this being that you don’t believe in God but with respect, I pray that God bless you and your family through this decision that you have made. May you continue growing over time and find the inner piece and happiness you are looking for. You will know why this is funny but the last words I want to write to you are this, “huggs you”.

Ulrika gives very valid reasons for her departure, though, so I can only wish her the best of luck. I am sad, though. I never even got to meet her in-world.

I'll echo everything everyone else has said. Ulrika, you've always been one of my most favorite SL personalities and one of my most admired intellects in this or any life. Thank you for all the times you've bluntly and unapolagetically said what I was thinking but was too polite to say. You'll be missed and remembered

Wow. I never met Ulrika, but I can't imagine SL without her. Goodbye Ulrika, good luck and be happy... Neualtenburg is a beautiful place, you did amazing work there, and I'll always treasure my Ulrika Plushie and my 'Make Her a Star' t-shirt. Hope you can come back at some future point.

Always best of luck to you Ulrika, your creativity and wit will be greatly missed in SL.

I am mostly a lurker...sometimes poster. Your posts have ALWAYS been thought provoking, maddenning, comical, outragous, and a dozen other descripts that will never do you justice. You craft in words as those that craft in paint and clay. No matter if I agree or disagree, you never were a boring read.

I will miss reading your words, your humor. The forums dumbed down a bit today from this announcement.
