Because they're Abbey - and I need to leave, anyway. Maybe I'll be able to stay, as Basic.

I'm sorry, what difference does them being Abbey make? Not sure I follow that. But if you need to leave anyway, that's understandable.

Have you ever tried to contact Abbey? They're dreadful. Then they have the cheek to send informally-worded letters like this:

From: Abbey
Unfortunately, I'm afraid this means we're going to have to charge you.

Stay as a basic. I'm a basic as as I'm not opening a bank account for SL etc.

Renting is fine - and you can move as often as you like.

I've got a transfer going into the account for the last 40 quid of tier, but I need to get rid of the land quickly. Hopefully, once that's paid, the Lindens will let me stay on as a basic. If nothing else, the forums are entertaining enough!

(I've got a rented space in Meins too, which I should be able to keep.)

Argh, yes, the hardware requirements can make SL quite frustrating.

Anyway, I hope you find some happyness in RL. I know you better than most and know you were really frustrated with SL... which makes it hard to enjoy, and SL should be enjoyed. Keep the basic account and come back when hardware is cheaper!

Either way, I'm looking you up when we're passing through Crewe next summer!

I'm not going to be in Crewe next summer! Sorry.

The problem is this - my tier goes out tomorrow, and the transfer doesn't get to my bank till the 31st. Who knows what they'll do when they try and charge me tomorrow and can't!

tomorrow being a bank holiday may help...

The Lindens say that they are looking into allowing payment by pay pal - if/when this happens it will deal with the Lindens-not-accepting-most-UK-methods-of-payment problem, :)

Charlotte really won the "Who should I pick!?" contest held in the off-topic forum!!

She is moving to Vermont and we are starting third life!!!

Actually thats all a lie. BUT please tell me it has nothing to do with being listed as a possibility!!

Don't go. The burdeon on Willow and Kris will be tremendous. Carrying on with flames and names... in the name of sanity and goodwill!!! Please... be like me

I ended my SL premiere acct. and now live as a forum spirit and occasional stalker in SL. We can start a club for that ya know.

Charlotte,

You just proved my point about your enthusiasms and how you dump them. I've had Second Life suddenly quit on a perfectly good credit card, too. It's annoying. If you can't temporarily get someone else to cover the charge, you could buy tier from one of those tier-renters. When your card bounces, I believe they give you 3 or even 7 days to sort it out before they public your land, it's worth finding out about.

But once again, you're showing concern about yourself and not your tenants or would-be subscribers. I'm sorry, I have to call you on that. I do hope you are offering them things like the cheap purchase of the land they are renting, finding them another rental somewhere else with somebody else (me) or whatever. It's not a good public posture to have.

Finally, I can say that after buying and selling my cheap or publicked Free Tibet land, your cash-out from SL should be very nice : )

buh-bye, and don't let the door slam on your way out.

The issue with land I was renting out has been sorted privately with those people renting (who have been extremely helpful and understanding of the circumstances), and you, despite the arrogant assumption that you should know everything, are not privy to those terms, or any discussions regarding the matter. Proceeds from the sale of my land has gone to pay the remaining tier costs before the account is returned to Basic status. As I say, hopefully the Lindens will see sense and allow me to remain in-world.

I've had the email kicking me off SL, so I guess it's time to say goodbye!

I'm going to leave you with a little song ...

(Or maybe not.)

Goodnight, America!
