Regarding the plethora of posts from residents regarding copyrights infringement and the like, evoking responses from Linden such as this:

First, one must wonder why residents with no vested interest in a copyright would even be concerned in the first place. I can see a friend of an artist friend, for example, who sees an infringement, notifying their friend. Such rampant concern for vast business conglomerates does make me question their motives (Competition with their own business? Envy of success?)
In any case, to make things easier, I wondered if LL has considered a program such as eBay's VERO. In a program such as this, LL could offer to list for these major companies, on the SL website, what residents may and may not do with images, etc.
Another benefit is that residents could be better assured that these companies are monitoring the grid for violations themselves, and that residents need not send in so many ARs or post as much about it.
A side benefit for LL would be an introduction of SL and its capabilities to these companies, who may in turn wish to purchase and build a sim (or 12) with displays. I don't want to see 'Buy Coca Cola - it's refreshing' blimps flying around SL, but I would enjoy spending time on a set of sims with duplications of portions of Disney World, Busch Gardens, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, etc.
Another benefit would be the potential for r/l work for the excellent content developers in SL, as well as inspiration for other builds.
And there's the benefit of marketing opportunities that would bring in and retain more resident customers.
Some day it would be nice to see something in SL that exemplifies its full capabilities and potential.
Just some thoughts from a very bored resident, disgusted with the sex-club-and-camping-chair landscape.

"does it make sense to have realistic architecture in a world where we can fly?"
Yes, if it's interesting and thought provoking and provides an opportunity for people to see and explore something they'll never be able to otherwise.
And I'd also love to see "worlds" within SL based entirely on new, unique, creative themes and ideas - things not found at all in the r/l.
Thank you for your response, Torley.
