In regards to this forum post, Teeple states you can attach a chat transcript to an abuse report or an e-mail to abuse, however some time ago I was cautionned and reprimandeed for this very thing by another Linden stating that passing any chat transcripts is an ofense banble by the ToS, and that I cannot send such even to a linden in conjunction with an abuse complaint. Wo what's the story? Can we or can't we?

The post to which Mr. Polonsky refers is here.

Linden Lab is committed to protecting the privacy of Residents. For that reason, the current Community Standard #4 states:

From: Community Standards

Remotely monitoring conversations, posting conversation logs, or sharing conversation logs without consent are all prohibited in Second Life and on the Second Life Forums.

However, passing chat or IM transcripts to the Abuse Team is permitted. Resident-submitted transcripts themselves are never classified as "evidence" in an abuse report investigation. They do assist an investigator, both in determining if a chat or IM exchange may be key to resolving the report, and in quickly locating the regions within server logs which need to be reviewed. Only server logs are treated as authoritative evidence.

I want to reiterate the Lab's commitment to Resident privacy...access to chatlogs is strictly on a need-to-know basis, and for those who do have appropriate access, perusing Residents' chat histories (or other private information) merely to ease boredom or satisfy curiosity is one of the quickest ways to become an ex-Linden.
