I think what the poster is asking for, albeit vaguely, is the ability to ban someone's computer signature at the parcel/estate level. The land owner wouldn't need to have direct access to this information, but a simple "Ban User's Computer" list would be a massive improvement to the quality of life in SL. If the owner of a busy location bans someone, it's only logical that they don't want the person returning as a different user. And if this were possible, we probably wouldn't even need the 300 ban slots on a parcel, except in the case of places like Luskwood, which draw an abnormal amount of griefers.

You said it yourself, Torley, abuse reports currently take several weeks to process. Imagine the amount of trouble someone can cause in that time. Now imagine the lessened load on the abuse team if this were possible. Based on the discussions I've seen on these boards, I think it would significantly reduce the number of reports filed, and land owners (your paying customers, in case it's been forgotten) would be far happier :)

Hi Felix! While appealing at first glance, it has some caveats: I've seen situations in which one person wanted to ban one sibling but not the other from a parcel. So there'd have to be further granularity allowing it to be optional, and... some way of not using it as a tool to ferret out alts (e.g., "I'll ban one person by computer, and invite their alt to come over, and if they can't come in--HA! SAME PERSON?!";). I know some people would be very tricky that way.

Dovetailing, and this does make sense, I think we are going to see some interesting "side alley" developments related (but not exactly) to this on the road to "true mute" (also mentioned previously). And the rise of networked Resident ban lists to save trouble too.

We'll definitely keep it in mind.
