Investigation Process?

Hi,

I'm interested in the methods used in investigating the latest grid-wide attack. The name of a resident accused of the attack was apparently broadcast globally by Kenny Linden, but the accused denies responsibility.

How is it that Linden Lab determined the source of the attack, and what steps does the company usually go through before announcing the name of the attacker?

Is there such a thing as 100% accuracy in determing the source of an attack? Is the accused in fact responsible, or is this case still under investigation?

What benefit is there to the residents of Second Life in knowing the name of an accused attacker?

Looking for some insight into your policies and process, thanks.

My post did not say that he released anything - I said that there were out of control objects that belonged to him and people needed to delete them. I was doing my best to get the situation under control - the only way people would know what to delete is by giving the name.
