My curiosity is piqued, though. I know it was accidentally enabled briefly back in Preview 1.6, with the stated reason for removal being privacy concerns. If I may ask, what made you change your minds after all this time?

As eltee pointed out, it appears that the Debug wireframe mode has been quietly (re)enabled in the new build. I just wanted to thank you guys for finally making this available to us -- eltee has demonstrated that it does indeed bear some degree of usefulness to residents, on top of the fact that it's a cool toy for us to play around with.

The main reason it was reenabled is that it allows builders to quickly spot problem areas in their creations in terms of poly count. If you're worried about creating efficient things, you need an idea of poly count, and while we have a triangle counter in the stat bar, it's not nearly as compelling as a wireframe in terms of conveying the cost associated with rendering a particular piece of geometry.
I encourage all builders to take a second look at what they've made in wireframe mode. I can hear the smacking of foreheads already. |
