Ok...with all due respect most of the reply to this post is WRONG!!
LL has been helping stabilize the $L through SELLING LINDENS!!! That is the active role I was speaking of. You don't set the rate, but you are doing something to keep the Linden at a stable price.
The philosophy of a free market was not ok for the Lindex so why is it ok for the Land Market?
A free market is all well and good, and nobody is asking you to set the price, but it sure seems like you have a "target" in mind for the value of the Linden, and your prices that you charge for sims is an indication of your "target" for the price of land. Why not take steps to try to stabilize the land industry by SELLING more land? Not necessarily at First Land prices, but at a price equal to that of what you are selling your sims for.
Why not take some of the profits you are making by SELLING LINDENS, and re-invest them into buying land back from the Land Barons and selling it at lower costs?
Just a couple ideas that you could implement in order to help make the dream of owning land within the reach of people who don't want to spend $50US for a 512 plot of land.
