This action is on par with the open registration.

LL Think about what you're doing.

If the currnent PvP Reporting system doesn't work as you need it to, fix it or replace it. DO NOT JUST REMOVE IT!!!

You are putting a loaded weapon into griefer's hands, and the flood gates were opened to griefers who have already swarmed into SL. Haven't you figured out that all those "Flase reports" are done by two types of people? 1) New residents who don't know any better because of a lack of communication on how the system works, and 2) By griefers themselves who abuse systems to get them change to aid themselves.

With no PvP Reporting at all, LL is opening SL to become a shooting gallery. Forcing Residents to use non-phys to travel to avoid it and damning new residents who can't afford such, or don't know about such to the whim of griefers.

Is it so hard to simply allow an avie the choice to be pushed? As has been said in other posts, if you allow a resident to select teh option to "Disallow Push" then 75% of griefing as we know it goes out the door.

The chaos you are about to unlease with the PvP Report removal is going to be epic. You are going to completely enrage the longtime residents with this folly and lack of foresight. Plus you are going to set SL up to be a -very- bad experiance to all those new residents you just opened the doors for with open registration. I highly doubt many of them will be buying Premium accounts to buy land whne they get bombarded on a daily basis. Long time residents are already leaving SL due to the increased griefing in SL. Don't believe me? Stop looking at your inworld numbers and read the formus.

This is a bad decision. Period. For the residents, for the company, and for the future of LL.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

pvp abuse reportin

Why is this being removed before the replacement is ready?

Please don't remove this until you are ready to implement a replacement. Now the many alts can grief away with no way to be recognized by poor unsuspecting victims.

It makes no sense to remove an anti griefing feature before it's replacement is ready to be implemented. I understand that people not knowing how the system works makes it difficult on the support staff, but don't allow the griefers to open fire on the masses without consequence to save yourselves some work.

What? No PvP abuse list?
06-28-2006 12:11
Michi asked about why the PvP abuse list was gone a few days ago:

/139/ae/116467/1.html

I thought maybe it was just some kind of bug in preview, but it looks like you've really gone and done it.

I know Michi, musicteacher, and Jessica (and others?) have already expressed their unhappiness with this change, but I have to speak up too.

Just last night, in our island sim, my group found themselves all wiped to the edge of the region by... something. Had they not been able to pull up the PvP abuse list, there would have been no way of knowing that a certain person had triggered the bomb, because that person disconnected shortly after.

Scripts have absolutely no way of knowing who calls llPushObject on them, so we can't script our own solution. Since llPushObject, in its simplest form (without a projectile or anything) can be utterly silent, anyone can send anyone else (or everyone in the area) flying, without there being the foggiest clue of who did what. If they send themselves flying as well, then there's no way to even suspect who did it. In a case like my group's last night, someone they didn't even notice in the sim blew them away and fled the scene quickly. Without the PvP abuse list, there'd be no clue who did what.

I see the reasons you gave in response to Michi's thread, but removing the PvP abuse list before implementing anything new puts all of your residents in a very bad position. Given the weekly update cycle, I have to guess that it's going to be at least one week before we get any replacement tool. In the mean time, people can send us flying and we'll have no clue even who to ban.

This is bad.

We need help on this one, and we need it quick. I use the PvP abuse list very often. Without it, we'll have no clue who to report, or who to ban from our island. We've been set up to be griefed with no recourse.

Removal of View PVP ABUSE
06-28-2006 13:45
Removing of the View PVP ABUSE is a major mistake. Now you cannot know who shot you. How can private sim owners and their admins ban the offending person without knowing who is being abusive to other players? Also how in the world can we report PVP Abuse under the REPORT ABUSE feature without a name. As suggested by one of the lindens in Live Help, we can still report the abuse, but you guys will find it. This would mean you'd have to "READ" through entire logs? Before we could give you a name and make it that mutch easier to handle. Now we just tell you there was abuse and you'll have to read the entire log to find it, right?

Bring back the VIEW PVP ABUSE, please!

Pvp!!

Bring back PvP its incredibly hard to police private sims when people cant inform you accurately who greifed them, nore is it possible for admins to do their job if they cant see who just shot them into the next sim. this was a HUGE mistake. if you were swamped with PvP complaints, then eliminate the 'file complaint' feature but still let us keep try of who's shooting who.
now people can sit somewhere and have a field day with a push gun. bring it back please!!

Merged these. Thx.

Yes, a very serious problem which doesn't get brought up more is that there is an *enormous* amount of false PvP reports which have saturated, and basically flooded the Abuse Team, making it difficult to investigate the actual, genuine reports that you send in. Each day this happens, the Abuse Team is swamped with--yet again--more!

We get enough complaints about "ARs do nothing!" as it is, and in tandem with giving more tools to Residents (hopefully someday we can disable llPushObject on a per-parcel basis), we want to encourage real abuse reports to be sent in so we'll all be more effective at handling what comes our way, Residents and Lindens alike.

The point of showing a list of names is still really important tho, I agree. I found it very useful in bombing clusters. At least, to provide this info AND cut down on falsies. I'm going to include all this feedback.

P.S. Kona and some other Lindens were thinking the exact same thing, at least SHOW so that you KNOW. I'll be sure to emphasize it as well.
