1.10.5 preview removes all PvP detection and abuse reporting mechanisms. It's in the release notes, and certainly is in the function as well.
Often, the only way I can find out who blew everyone out of our sim is by using "Check PvP Abuse".
I thought LL was trying to get a handle on griefing... Now it seems that the best AR we can file when pushed is "this guy shot me, honest, I'm not making it up."
Before, we at least had some system evidence. Sure it annoyed newbies. But maybe just the pop-up could have been supressed, instead of removing the feature entirely?
I guess to know that it's now a push-weapon free-for-all...
.... Can we please get the ban list raised above 50 now to cope with this?

I brought up this point too recently at an internal discussion, as did some other Lindens. I recognize the usefulness in "bomb clusters" when many Residents are blown away and see a common name. The reason why this was removed is (at least) twofold: 1) Too many *false* reports from those who aren't sure how to use the system, increasing support load. For example, the classic example of running into an avatar and bumping them accidentally, or the number of times Ben and Nigel Linden have been reported for abuse because of their trolleys and trains. 2) A much better system to detect (ameliorated abuse-reporting tools, overall) is in the works. Perhaps a better way to detect PvP Abuse would be to check for some magnitude of significant forces, as opposed to little pushes.
So it's ongoing (isn't it always?). As for your last question--something we want to do. I haven't gotten confirmation on it yet, but I will cheerfully announce when it can be done. I'll enter your feedback in the issue we've got open for this.
