First off, please see these threads:

Editing Bug STILL There...

Editing linked prims for non-owned objects

The problem with this bug is there seems to be no easy way to repro this - It just pops up randomly. The only cure - uninstall SL, re-DL & re-install SL. The trouble is, this thing is now hitting me more frequently. Whereas before it was an "every few weeks" sort of thing, now it's coming back every other day.

And no, it never effects objects you own - only objects owned by others that have granted you mod rights. I have seen myself be able to edit an object one session, log off for a couple of hours, log back in, and be unable to edit the object.

Furthermore, it is NOT the objects themselves - I have conducted experiments with passing ownership of the effected objects back & forth by both gift and sale - If I own it, I cant edit its linked parts, if he owns it, he can edit its linked parts, but even with us BOTH having perms to edit each others objects, we CANNOT edit linked parts when we dont own the object.

I can't tell you how annoying this is!!

I would like to see other resis who are having this problem chime in, so we can see how deep the rot goes. It cant be just us three who are experiencing this.

I would also like to know what we can do to try and help support and the bug hunters nail this down. Since the repro is unknown, that is a tricky one - I well understand, I am in the software business myself.

Okay Torley, how do we attack this nasty little problem?

Adv Thanks vance

One important question--thanx to Lex Neva for reminding me:

Tools menu > Select Only My Objects is OFF, right?

A good point, but I thought of that, and yes, it is OFF.
