Help! My AV is distorted

I just noticed that my nose on my AV is different. I have a second copy of my shape with smaller hips for skirts and when I tried that one on, the nose is still off. Is there any reason why my shape would just change without me doing anything to it? And is there a way that I can get it back to what it was?

KiKi, in the unfortunate instance you don't have a backup, you may want to make a copy of your body's Shape in inventory. Right-click and Copy, and Paste it. Then, right-click on yourself and choose Appearance, and look for the nose sliders so you can adjust your nose back. Without before/after pictures it's hard for me to tell what you're describing.

There's not a good reason why your body shape would change like that. I *have* known in severely bad packet loss conditions--meaning a lot of data gets lost like a sieve--body shapes can get Ruthed, meaning they revert to the original "mother of all avatars". But that sounds a lot more drastic than what you're experiencing.

Something she may want to note: DO NOT EDIT THE SHAPE WITHOUT MAKING A COPY! A friend made this mistake. I know somebody who always sees me av wrong for whatever reason, in certain sims. We've never figured out why, as he clears his cache nightly.

BUT - usually when this happens, if you clear the cache and relog, things will look normal again. Also helps if you have your home set to a low-lag area and rez yourself there before going anyplace else.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd be interested to know what the heck is going on, as, like I said, a friend of mine almost always sees my head wrong, usually if I'm wearing a Lost Creatures avatar, which is odd because everyone else sees it fine, he only sees it wrong on me and nobody else, and only sees that vendor's avs wrong. It's bizzarre.... Will have to ask him sometime if it gets fixed somehow with this version...

*cough* Tangent... anyway, she might find clearing her cache and restarting SL to help.


Hopefully the mystery gets solved!
