Recently, Linden has decided to begin cracking down on Events that don't conform to the rules. Some have cheered this decision, while others are gravely concerned.
There is one change in particular that I was hoping you could provide some clarity on:
Recently, the message at the bottom of the events posting page has changed to read the following in red text:
"SPAM (repeated posting of the same event in a single day) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and will be SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION. Please do not use the Events calendar in any way which would inhibit its usefulness to the community at large. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a SUSPENSION OF YOUR ACCOUNT."
There is some constructive debate going on here as to the meaning behind this rule. Could you please clarify your intention?
For example, consider the following scenerios:
-A user posts the same 1-hour event at 9am and 9pm in order to reach folks in multiple time zones
-A user uses their 5-event-a-day quota to post 5 copies of the same 1-hour event scattered throughout the calendar, again to reach multiple time zones.
-A user uses their 5-event-a-day quota to post 5 copies of the same 3-hour event posted back to back to provide 15-hours of coverage
-A user uses alternate accounts or paid hosts to post the same 1-hour event in excess of the 5-event-a-day quota to provide 24 hours of coverage
Please clarify Linden's position on this so that we all understand definitively what your intention is.
Thanks!
