It's not just *sold* items. It appears to potentially happen with any script that uses llgiveinventory. I won an object from a raffle ball last night. I got the confirmation message that I had received the item. I looked for it in my inventory and it was there, but I did not open it or play with it at that time.
This morning, after logging in, the item is nowhere to be found. I even cleared my cache, relogged and hit the Recent Items tab to refresh my inventory. Nada, zip, nothing. It's just not there anymore.

Items disappearing from inventory
10-13-2006 02:41
This thread was started in Resident Answers.. /327/da/143029/1.html...and I suspect there's going to continue to be more people chiming in. While at first I assumed I was alone in this, having mislaid a texture,m or been mistaken about receiving a given item from my friend. I was NOT mistaken about a whole slew of architectural textures that showed up missing today.. nor was I mistaken that my Amethyst collar was in fact, around my neck, when last I saw it. It sounds like this may, unfortunately, be a sign of a much larger problem in the asset system since the update,... and I'm posting this pointer here, in an effort to bring the issue to the Lindens' attention as soon as possible. Please help? EDIT: that thread is now 4 pages long... still not even so much as a "we're investigating" From the Lindens.

Would you please officially comment on the recent "missing items" problem?

It seems pretty obvious that there is a new problem, occuring with relatively great frequency, ever since your object permission fix from Monday morning. Objects are poofing from people's inventory with no truly discernable pattern yet. Sometimes on the order of 1500 to 4000 items are disappearing in one go. Clearing the cache will not get them to reappear. Formal bug reports have been filed. Some people (including myself) are very reluctant to even log on until this bug is found and squashed. Friends of mine have lost *irreplaceable* items due to this bug. My WAG is that you either have a bug with database records of object-AV relationships getting corrupted/lost, or else the records are still intact and instead your asset server system is refusing to correctly update some AVs' inventory upon login. Would you please please please make an official statement about this issue, what you're doing about it, and whether the losses people are reporting are merely temporary (asset server) or potentially permanent (database corruption). See this thread for more info: /327/da/143029/1.html
