I always order my sims "baked flat at 100 meters"

Sounds like I am ordering a pizza. :D

Bah there is always one! :p

Blind man: I can't see a thing :(
Schwan: That's funny because I can see perfectly!

No what is important is the land height when you received your island. You can terraform 100m either way from that starting point, but if the starting point is only 20m above 0, then you have a smaller range over which you can terraform..

If you asked for the land to be set at 100m when you first had it setup, you would be able to get the full range of terraforming.

You can't terraform to below 0 meters?

Also, can land on a private island be subdivided and deeded to different groups (for the purpose of tracking prim usage and setting home locations on leased land)?

does anyone know the short answer to this question?:

will performance of a sim be noticably lower if we were to start running sims on personal machines not co-located?

If your machine is located say at your home where you have a normal cable internet connection then ohhh god yes you'll notice an EXTREME drop in performance due to line speed. If/when they allow people to run their own sims i'd personally get a machine at some datacenter.

However thats not saying you couldn't have like 5-10ppl in your sim before lag went insane, just depends on what their network would be set at.

I got a question. Why does everyone want to run there own server on thier island. Am i missing out on somthing here? because i dont see why someone would want to put thier own cable connection on thier island and make it lagg way faster, or even rent out a server to use. I just dont get it, heh, am im just too stupid to get this? lol

Im guessing there's some increadibly, awesome, un-human, great thing to having your own server. Well... I would like to know what it is! lol...

We're already in the planning stages of buying an island, and after reading this thread, I heartily agree. We need either a Private Island or Estate owners forum, as I'm getting more information here than the Wiki.

But a question that has been bothering us for when it comes to the day that we will be sending in the request for our island; You don't have to order the island either as tropical or snow, right?

Using the estate tools you can create your own snow-capped mountains or valley's, and not have to order the island that way?
