im still a newbie but did see somewheres that ...dwell= money ...at the end of the explantion of it or definition of it.....also funny really in a ironic sort of way...this is a game yes...you paid to play in this game....instead of killing monsters you do other things...like buying land that the game place puts up for sale...Linden isnt the only game to do this...so has asheron's call and others..only it is easier and cheaper to buy it here really.... Linden made SL for us to enjoy and am sure they enjoy being in-world also...but to provide SL to you as it is and more so in the future, They also have to catered to a LOT of people and different wants and needs...that is business to keep the costumer happy...i believe they are doing that..if dont like a certain area in SL well SL is huge find another place to make your home if all you want is someone "dwelling" on you land well do as linden is doing cater to yourrr costumers but also remember they are a diversified group...Cant make each and everyone happy...well on that note i better get back to office world and work lol guess money -even fake money- will always be fought over....

From: someone There is something about the commerce-obsession that speaks loudly of a severe lack of imagination and a stultified spirit. Alazarin (nice name) has probably seen one mall too many. Me too. Especially the ones like huge displays of outdoor advertising signs. There are malls like 50 tacky souvenier booths. Funny thing is they're mostly emptyso what's the point? Let's not do that to Iris.

From: Prokofy Neva People buying there had a reasonable expectation that like any new area of a dozen sims or so, it would have 3 telehubs, or whatever.
No, they didn't. Maybe they believed this, but there was no reason to expect this. It was a *new* continent. No one had any reason to expect anything. It could have had a telehub in every sim or none at all. Maybe the atmosphere there had a certain compound that enabled direct point-to-point teleports. Maybe time-space was warped in such a way that teleportation was impossible. Possibly vehicle scripts would cause explosions when subjected to the acid rain there. There was no reason to expect anything. And the fact that it didn't have telehubs immediately should have at least made people wonder. Just because people wanted telehubs doesn't mean that they had the right to expect them. Just as other people have no right to expect an unspoiled wilderness.

Funny thing is they're mostly emptyso what's the point? Let's not do that to Iris. \ I love malls with 50 tacky souvenir booths! Love em! They make me think of a lot of fun RL places like carnivals and Time's Square and Brighton Beach and Niagara Falls and just lots of places where there are a jumble of places to shop at. People love this in RL and they don't have the curling lip and allergenic reaction to it that you have in SL. You're probably the kind of person who shops at Saks Fifth Avenue and recoils in horror even at Filene's Basement let alone Moe's. But so what? Get over yourself. I have several malls with tacky souvenir booths and I love them to pieces. I don't mind if they are empty at the start because they do fill up I've seen. People need inexpensive places to put their wares, especially when starting out. People like to shop and browse at open stalls. Let them! Iris would be the perfect environment instead of this static flies-in-amber kinda thing you want to have made of it. Look at my attached photo of the RL Hong Kong junks, wouldn't that bring colour and life to Iris? That's what I'd like to see instead of a huge expanse of Linden sea with some boring Linden boardwalk builds, empty of life, arranged around in prim primdom flanking the Temple. What you have to realize is that your aesthetic view and your allergy to cluttery commerce is just that -- merely your particular aesthetic view and your allergy to cluttery commerce. It isn't "right".

Just because people wanted telehubs doesn't mean that they had the right to expect them. Just as other people have no right to expect an unspoiled wilderness. Yes, they did lol. Just ask people who bought bunches of land there. I did. And dozens of others did. That's how it has been. Our expectations are reasonable and proper if we are in an environment that is customer-service oriented, entertainment-oriented, business-oriented, and commerce-oriented. But we aren't in that environment. As you are quick to tell us, we are in an experimental lab environment and that is why it is called Linden Labs and don't ever forget it LOL. Just like Maxis is a place with a big name and big ideas but poor on delivery, and Electronic Arts is a impersonal entertainment machine posing as an aesthetic and narrative device LOL. Honestly, I will adapt if they don't have telehubs. It's kinda fun. But I have som really big questions about a company that pulls fast ones like that. Predictable behaviour builds a business stability. This corporation likes to play social engineer though, and they have 20,000 willing guinea pigs (some not so willing). "Let's see what happens if we put first land at Brownlee telehub." "Let's see if we keep them guessing about telehubs in the New Continent whether auction prices might go down a bit so we can keep them affordable," and so on. I'm worried about this, though: "just because people wanted telehubs doesn't mean they have a right to expect them." Gah. And this from a company going through a big voting fetish now.
