I do not work in SL, I put everything I spend on the credit card. I am one of those who buys lindens beside getting my weekly "Welfare" check! Smile! Of course "RBD" doesn't like that...smile There is no such thing as welfare in second life! If anyone can afford to have a computer in real life should not be about to apply for welfare. "RBD" is only concerned because he can't increase his bank account at the cost to others.

*Laughs* You know the only ones I hear complaining about this are the folks who seem to think that no one knows they are the ones trying to make money off selling their Lindens to others. Oh and they are not making quite as much as they were last week. My response. Welcome to the REAL WORLD of economics. Just cause you can't make as much on Lindens, try going and playing the global money market. I bet you will quickly decide the Linden market is stable and not bad at all.

"RBD" is only concerned because he can't increase his bank account at the cost to others. RBD is not the only one that is concerned. Anyone who has a vested interest in a healthy SL economy is, or at least should be, concerned. Yes, the LindeX did stabilize in the $L280/$1.00 range for about a month recently, and it even momentarily strengthened as it rose to $L270/$1.00 during a one week period, but it has once again climbed over the $L280/$1.00 threshold, and it is showing strong momentum to the downside. I, like the rest of us, have heard all of the positions on this matter. I'm just of the opinion that if LL wants to market the linden to be at an exchange rate of $L250/$1.00, which they they have said they do, then we should be actively working toward that goal. I realize LL is probably waiting for the full effects of the elimination of the DI to take effect before proceeding with other measures. Part of me says that is prudent. The other part of me however, says that it is apparent that it will not be enough. Because for the most part, DI only affects money in USD being paid to landowners by LL. IMHO, there is no doubt that LL will eventually have to do more. So why prolong the inevitable? Let's go back to step 1, and do the obvious. Eliminate the $L50 basic stipend and the $L250 basic allowance. It is a minor tweak, but one that I believe will make a world of difference. With approximately ten times as many basic members as there are premium members, this amounts to a huge influx of market glut that is unecessarily imposed upon the LindeX. Let's just do it already.

As they say, Sorry Charlie! I am not willing to give up my L$500 a week to make you richer! I pay for that money!! The free accounts sould not have to give up their L$50 a week. All you want is to enrich yourself at the pain of others. It is not going to happen, now or in the future. Linden Labs is going to go along with the majority of users and not pander to a small group. I will drop my "premium" account if they drop my Stipend. It would be the final straw.

You aren't "Paying For Stipends", they are being printed and given to you. Your Premium payment is not used to purchase pre-existing Linden Dollars. If it was, your statment, "I pay for that money" would be true. What actually happens is that LL prints New Linden Dollars every Tuesday, adding to the Total Number Of Linden Dollars in Circulation. This increased supply has the effect of reducing the valuation of the Linden Dollar. Thus making you poorer...

If I lost it would have to pay an additional $7.15 a month to replace them (at current rate). Tell me what is my gain?? Dropping it would only enrich residents like you and make poorer residents like me! A little inflation hurts me less than having to buy all of my lindens.

hahahahahahahahahahaha Oooh the title of this thread really got me. I didnt need to even read the original post - just as well really My favourite line in the transaction stats as the stand just now is this one (from the SL homepage): "Change: L$0 / US$1.00" NO CHANGE! And the best rate is back to 280. And the big trading for the day hasnt begun yet. Black Tuesday indeed. When compared to last summer, the drop in Linden value has been waaaaay less than some people think: [post]922154[/post] From: Vestalia Hadlee I take last summer to be a good representation of prior, relatively recent L$ value: GOM daily averages were typically in the mid $3.80s per/1000 from mid July to EOM (about 260 L$ to the dollar) and mid $3.70s per/1000 (about 275 L$ to the dollar) through August, with few spikes.

There is an overwhelming lack of reading comprehension going on on these forums. Read, comprehend what you read, and then respond accordingly people. lol.

I'll stick with my highly technical internet networking job. Setting up IPv4 and IPv6 networks on Ciscos and Junipers isn't for the average joe..(ie: You).
