Incentive to become a premium member

LL should restrict the limit buy and sell to the premium members whereas the basic members should stick with the market buy and sell options. They should have a slight disadvantage on the market if they are not willing to pay a monthly fee to LL.

Additionally, basic members shouldn't be able to request a higher Lindex tier. Those who are earning that much money should have enough to pay the premium fees anyway.

What do you think?

Sounds good by me. I'd even restrict basics to selling 20 USD worth a month..

Does not make up for the stipend :(

How about something that is worth something to non Linden Buyers and Sellors?

Currently, a removal of the premium stipend isn't neccessary. The market has been stable for a bit more than 3 weeks now. Though we should keep that option open if the market starts to destabilize again.
We really shouldn't do more than needed. ^^

Thats pretty wrong of you to request just because the opt not to pay a monthly fee they shouldnt be able to fully enjoy SL. Why dont you just go to There where they do this BS. The community there is horrid by the way. So they dont pay a monthly fee they are often still renting land and thats not an incentive in fact its more likely to prevent people from signing up in the first place.

Let go of your little notions that just because you pay a fee you should be able to do more what you pay for as a premium account is a stipend and the ability to own land nothing else. I myself am a premium account and would not advocate doing this in any form In fact i think the basic accounts should get back their stipend and their signup bonus. Really wasnt neccessary to cut it out for new signups like some people claim.

I personally wouldnt advocate this and i'm not even getting why you would even think it's a good idea.

Except the premium fees directly support Linden Labs. How does paying nothing directly support the company?

Its a good idea because it would bring more support to Linden labs by having more premiums.

Theres an old saying that rings true quite often: you get what you pay for.

I didn't think 72$ a year was too rough. Whats that, a cup of coffee twice a week?

It's not "bullying", it's trying to think of something positive that can be given to Premiums to encourage upgrading.

The stipend is a big thing - and hopefully that won't go away - but for successful users it's irrelevant. And that itself is bad because it causes some people to see going Premium as a failure.

Basic account users should be expected to put in more time than money into the game. Premium users essentially pay real money in lieu of time to make some $L.

If I had to guess, I would say that as a group, basic users probably contribute more content to the game than premium members. They are here because they enjoy spending the time.

And tsk tsk to anyone who has the audacity to make assumptions about other people's finances.

That's exactly the perception that needs to be gotten rid of, Cannae - that Premium members are people who can't/won't earn their Lindens in-world so resort to using their US$ instead.

The problem is, LL can't use your content to pay their bandwidth bills. And you can claim that creating content encourages other people to put in US$ but at the end of the day that's just passing the buck and chances are every one of those "others" just makes the same argument you do.

Nope. Bad idea. Basics should have the same access to Lindex as premiums. Taking benefits away is not the way to encourage people to go premium.

I can see you point on part of this ....

But some ppl see sl As Enjoyment and a thing on sign in to for enjoyment at the end of a hard day ... and just want to come here and relax and have fun or what ever they do .. Or there work schedule in rl life ect it would be a waste of time to upgrade .....

To some others thwey beleive Sl is there full life income and they work hard here to try to make thins things work for them ... to use for there rl bills hummmmm think some shuld get ... rl jobs some they dont feel the crunch at bill paying time ...

I see the flip side of this ....
But why for the one who just come here for relaxation not as a so called full life empolyee and putting all there eggs in the backets here be bullied or so called incentiave ... ect ...

PPl have different views on this ... just like in reals we have POOR/MIDDLE CLASS/RICHES

so as in sl .. and the ecomomy is always fluxing back and forth .

No one is the same .... no one should have the same so called premiun accont here ... :) hope you can see this too

EDIT::: I'm see a reverse of Robin Hood here

Actually if Linden wanted to give ppl incentive they'd provide 24/7 phone support that doesn't always blame the user PC for thier server foibles and they'd have liasons the majority of which would respond when ppl are being shot or otherwise griefed, rather than jsut say file an AR that would end up being ignored, same as bug reports and support e-mails. BTW that thing about liasons does not apply to all of them, however those who do respond are an endangered species.

After all SL is the MOST expensive 3D Chat online and I don't think it's too much to ask for support commensurate with the high price.

The argument really doesnt make sense. How many basics rent 4096 sqm land from namelessco? Then namelessco pays tier TO LL. Yet you premium members with your 512 sqm tier dont pay anything except $6.00 and RECEIVE 2167 lindens/month (=$6.75). + you can take that first land and turn that into a quick $10.

So i must ask who is doing more to help LL.

BTW I am a premium member

The premiums. Because if we buy that alnd and pay teir, LL gets all of it. Landlords can rent at normal teir rates because they get a discount based on size. Break down a whole sim into 2048 or 1024 m2 patches. add up individual teir. Compare to 195 USD a month

Let's put this is to a different Propective then !!!

Coffee is 10$ a can last a week so 40.$ a month

Equals 480.00 i year

Then From a Mother Stand Point We Buy Daipers or pullus for our kids For mine it

Huggies pullups For 14.95 A pac (21) in each pack last a week Equals 51.80 a month

Which comes out to 681.69 a year

ECT... Some of us Have other concerns to this ... and as you can see

480.00+681.86=1,101.68

for a full year ,,, What do you think i should give up To get a upgraded account ?? you tell me ?

Which do you want to support more: your coffee habit or the company that makes a game you love playing? Lay off the caffeine, its bad for a mother anyway.

Consider this: They don't HAVE to offer free accounts. Originally, they didn't. You should get what you pay for..its not like I can complain when something I pay NOTHING for changes its plans.

I pay quarterly (because of high rent, when I can afford, its going annual, better deal). Its actually coming up here next month. 22.50 USD every 3 months. That should be easier on you. Thats what? One less trip to McDonalds with the kids every 3 months?
