The historical balance between premium and basic accounts is 1:4
Of inflationary sources the premium stypend is the greatest (about 70% of all new money).

The size of the SL money supply is somewhere between 370 and 390 million lindens.

One additional sink could be charging to have land P2P enabled.

Removing Basic accounts would reduce the SL population to 20%, and only eliminate 28% of new money. Removes 4/5 users and only eliminates 28%.

If your interested in the facts behind these numbers i can pull them up.

What is WRONG with you people?

Ansche cashes out on a regular basis, you do realize thats where she make she living right, she HAS to cash out from time to time......and it might also be tax time....

also please remember that lindens are unable to leave SL excpt through LL. So buying and selling doens't ADD lindens to the mix at all, unles youc ount those peopel are holding.

THe only real factor onthe vaule of a linden, when the dayisdone( thtisn't a manipulation by some one) is HOW MUCH VOLUME PER SUPPLY IS TRADED IN A DAY. The lower the volume the lower the value, the higher he volume the higher the value. The more lindens taht newbies snap up, the less there are for more newbies to get ahold of.

This isn't like R/l curency where if you buy USD in The US you are weakeing the dollar by making more of them(since money that's been bought bty an ecahnger is gernerally out of criculation.) R/L curreny is best spent OUTSIDE of its country.....Lindens CANNOT move out sideof thier country........

Hence the only thing that detemines price outsideof playing panic rasier is avaibility via voulme, a fast volume day with low availiblity and the value geos UP, slow volume with hig availiblity and the value geos down...

Holiday's the demandfor USDishigha nd thedemand for linden is low....that's life.....

THAT SIMPLE

Now the more free accoutns that buy L, the more the L wil be worth, the vaule will go up slowly and steady, JSUT like most other thigns do..........as is the free acoutns are taking off with a vengence....

My .02L$ (or .020000005L$ with today's inflation *smirks*)

1> I'm realatively new still. Only a few months old on SL.

2> I am on a Basic (Free) account.

3> I rarely buy L$ as I prefer to earn it in SL.

4> I do not own land (Can't yet) and do not rent either (Yet. Will eventually).

5> NONE of that matters because you can not judge economic Growth/Decline over a one day, a one week, or even a one month study.

ONLY a Long-Term (ie 1-2 Year Study) will show the mainstream of SL economy (and that shows a slow but steady rise).

SL is a living, breathing, GROWING economy. While it has been here for a few years, it is still an infant by economic standards. This means it should (and has) fluctuate as the citizens DEFINE its economic potential.

As SL grows, both in actual size (more sims), in population (yes those free accounts make a difference, for the good usually), and in structure (updates and new features from LL), the economy will change to meet the new design. Some will raise the economy, and some will cause it to decline.

Short of everyone, everywhere pulling out of SL, I do not see an econominc collaps anytime soon.

If you are not one of the "Big Boys" in the game (ie unless you make your RL living off the game), then sit back an enjoy SL. You are not going to lose anything even if it does collaps but the -possibility- of earning some RL currency.

And you can bet your sweet, digital, butt that the "Big Boys" like Anshe darn well ARE watching the economy and doing everything in thier power to keep it stable AND growing.

So watch the spikes and flutuations. Take advantage when you can and be careful with your L$ when you must. Enjoy you Second Life.

And take a beer and a valium and chill the heck out!

The bottom line here is that we need something else that is worth spending Linden dollars on.

I think part of the problem would be solved if land tiers did not rise exponetially. I'll like another 1000 sq m, but I'd need to pay for another 4608 to get the 1000. This keeps me from expanding slowly, since my income does not rise as fast as tier charges.. If I could expand my expenses as slowly as my income expands, I'd still be growing. I'll bet that I'm not the only who who is not buying land because of this problem.

In other words, let's have linear steps in tier instead of exponential so we can expand our land holdings at a reasonable rate. This would encourage expansion of land holdings and eat up some Lindens.

(Sorry, the urge to do that was too strong to resist.)

i dont know anything about business or retail but i think this whole telehub thing is being blown way out of proportion ..as a consumer in sl..i am going to be shopping MORE and in more SL in world stores when they have ptp teleporting...i have virtually stopped exploring in world stores BECAUSE of a lack of ptp teleporting and im sure i am not the only one and without the new ptp teleporting..i am predicting a trend of a slow downward spiral of in world store sales because of .. the lack of control over building these stores that succeed in "trapping" you while flying from a telehub to get your business....the lag itself caused by slow sims...90% of what i have purchased in the last 2 months has been from SL Boutique's website and im sure that they will continue to increase sales as more and more sl members become more aware of the benefits and convenience of not having to fly, fight lag, etc to purchase something..the only thing i can see to slow down the onset of this new way to shop is to EMBRACE ptp telporting ..

AGREED! I'll be more motivated to shop and explore once I can go directly to my destination without the hassle of getting stuck in gargantuous partially rezzed buildings full of ... um, stuff that I'm not interested in.

But can it be used Safely on a sex ball ?

Oh I see the smoke rolling now.........

*pondering* The term "safely" and "sex ball" in the same sentence frightens me somewhat... LOL Considering the last time I was "using" one of those, I ended up upside down and sideways floating in mid air. Must be part of the new global "safe sex" initiative, although why anyone would have sex with a safe is beyond me...
