You would think that with the recent press awareness of SL and that there are so many residents the linden would actually increase in value but it has not.

I would actually expect the rate of L$ devaluation to increase relative to the rate of population growth, unless additional variables are also in flux.

The linden value is getting better every day. Eventually, I hope, we will reach that 1000L/1 usd level.

Hahahah... Good one... LOL.. You should try out to be
a Comedian at Yuk Yuk's in Vancouver, BC.

By the way, who said I wanted it to be a platform? Its a game.

Life is a Game. And the world trades currency to buy goods and
services across borders. In this case, the border is virtual and the
monetary tool to buy goods/services in SL is the Linden Dollar.

You might think its a "game", but that doesn't mean the foundation
of supply, demand, currency, etc are anything less than real. If you
want to be paid for your coding work in SL and the buyer gives you
Linden Dollars and you cash out for USDs, then you've profitted from
your hard work. So if the L$'s value declines, then your profit also declines.
Making the economy, "real". Even if you are unable to understand something
so complex.

The population growth is skewed by alts, etc. Basing any economic data on that number would seem meaningless. I'm just thankful my profits have increased :)

Shame on Linden Labs for not giving out valid population data.
They are counting every account that ever existed including alts
and claiming that is their user base. Buncha slick folks...

My guess is that is a data entry error. That looks like volume not rate. I watched the market most to the day and never saw anything like that however if it did trade I hope the lucky lottery winner will come forward to claim his prize. Btw, anyone seeing any offer that is out of line like that can purchase it if they are fast enough by just buying $1 worth of Lindens. In the case of a reasonable block for Lindens going for 320 to 1 on 3 May, I did see those but don't have enough USD in the game to get very many at that price but now maybe I should pay more attention.

Somebody sold Lindens today at 3000 to 1 so it looks like an input error on the part of the seller. Anybody see how many Lindens were offered at that rate?

My calculations put it at around L$6,000 offered up at L$3,000/US$.

The 'value of the Linden' is decided by the seller. This is in opposition to just about every currency exchange market that I've ever heard of (and in international business, I read about them daily). It just isn't supposed to work that way.

The conclusion that I have come to is that the LindeX is not actually a currency exchange. I did write all about this in my post that everyone, including LL ignored when I posted it in SL Answers and in L/E forum.

So if my calculations are correct you could buy those L$6,000 for $2.30 USD and get an effective rate of L$2,608.7 to $1 USD?
