From: Alby Yellowknife Hiro:
I've got just the website for you and your hippie friends.
I said nothing inherently positive about hippies in my post. What would make you say I'm a hippie? I said that they aren't necessarily greedless, and that they have variety. I never said the variety included good. (Or bad, for that matter.) Maybe you're so right-wing that you hear what you want to hear. Please refer back to the picture I posted of the Prince with his fingers in his ears! p.s. Ann Coultier is a hypocrite and a fascist.

Don't be talk'n smack about my girl Ann. Thats why the Left lost the election along with more House and Senate seats.. Its a Revolution. Your either with us, or your against us. LOL Q: Your last book is called "How to Talk to a Liberal." With which words? A: A baseball bat is best. But if you absolutely must use words, something like: "Grow up."
Love, Ann Coulter

Lol.... politics.... I prefer Kissinger realpolitiks.
The reality: we're all pissants - post-tsarist peasants - to be used as cannon fodder for liberal and conservative agendas.
None of us has any real power - if we did we wouldn't be playing SL - we'd be playing war in Iraq like W. Or making liberal apologist movies like "Alexander".

From: Alby Yellowknife Silence you hippie.... Greed fuels the human drive for self gain. Thats why greedless hippies are dirt poor and always crying about what the "have's" got.. Back to your weed, LSD, and protests marches in front of the IMF... Leave the folks inside the IMF to handle the money while you say "Would you like fries with that".
Such deep thoughts. And you know what I do to make money? Reactions like yours are a reflection of an attempt to bring narrow order to the complexity of life and culture. And you do what for a living?

Reactions like yours are a reflection of an attempt to bring narrow order to the complexity of life and culture.
And you do what for a living? There is order in everything. Life is only complex because you choose to ignore the order. Order from Chaos = Advancement in Life. Once nobody could understand the chaotic nature of Tides, Winds, and the Stars. Those who could see the order, navigated the seas and conquered those people who only saw complexity in life. Nothing is complex about life and culture. It is a mindset of ignorance. Embrace Order and that complexity will become more clear. What do I do for a living? I control your complex life. Kneel to your master.. Here is some knowledge to fill your mind. Book: Chaos and Life: Complexity and Order in Evolution and Thought Source: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/023112662X/qid=1105320990/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-9874967-6684838?v=glance&s=booksBlurb: ==== Why, in a scientific age, do people routinely turn to astrologers, mediums, cultists, and every kind of irrational practitioner rather than to science to meet their spiritual needs? The answer, according to Richard J. Bird, is that science, especially biology, has embraced a view of life that renders meaningless the coincidences, serendipities, and other seemingly significant occurrences that fill people“s everyday existence. Evolutionary biology rests on the assumption that although events are fundamentally random, some are selected because they are better adapted than others to the surrounding world. This book proposes an alternative view of evolving complexity. Bird argues that randomness means not disorder but infinite order. Complexity arises not from many random events of natural selection (although these are not unimportant) but from the "playing out" of chaotic systems -which are best described mathematically. When we properly understand the complex interplay of chaos and life, Bird contends, we will see that many events that appear random are actually the outcome of order. Contents Foreword Prologue: The Dawn of Man? Chapter 1. Iteration and Sequence. Chapter 2. The Problems of Biology. Chapter 3. The Origin of Species. Chapter 4. Chaos and Dimensionality. Chapter 5. Chaostability. Chapter 6. The Geometry of Life. Chapter 7. The Living Computer. | Chapter 8. Morphology and Evolution. Chapter 9. Life, Entropy and Randomness. Chapter 10. The Effectiveness of Mathematics. Chapter 11. Life and Conflict. Chapter 12. The World as Iteration and Recursion.

What I fail to understand with this idea is that why would anyone put their land at risk when a person can simply go to GOM and buy L$ there?

Alexa Thats the whole point Alexa. Your not buying Linden Dollars, your asking the "public" to give you money for a period of time. When that time expires, you'll pay them back more than what they gave you. To secure that loan, you risk your land. If you fail to repay those who loaned you the money, they take your land. If you don't default, the investors make some money. Overall all, investment vehicles such as Bonds allow for content and wealth to be created. For example, lets say you have a great idea (Movie Theaters that steam real movies from some website). Lets say you worked out the numbers and it'll cost L$1,000,000. You don't have that much L$ in your pocket, if you bought it on GOM it would cost $3,850 bucks, but your rich with thousands of meters of land. So what do you do? Step one is to issue Bonds with the promise to repay investors 10% in 3 months. So you issue 1000 Bonds with a price tag of L$1000. In 3 months, each bond will be repaid at L$1100. So a bunch of money-minded folks chalk up the L$1,000,000 linden dollars to give you and their money is secured by all your land. You take that money and hire builders, scripters, cash out a few L$ for US$ to pay RL website fees, etc.. And a few days/weeks later you've got a movie theater up and running in SL. Its a big hit, people are paying you left and right to enjoy this newly created content in SL. Something that never would have existed if you we're not funded all that money. Three months down the road you've made L$2,000,000 and repaid L$1,100,000, netting a profit of L$900,000. The bonds are disolved and nobody has anymore claim on your land. Does that make sense? Now the flip side is: You get your L$1,000,000 decide to cash out everything on GOM, cancel your account, and post a message in the forums that says "So Long Suckers"... All the investors who put up that money are pissed, but all the money was secured with the land you once owned. So they take claim to the land and sell it to recoup their L$1,000,000. No money lost outta their pockets. As for Securing Bonds with land, just to actually determine the correct value, a simple metric of only being able to issue a bond for 50% of the land value means that based on going market rates for land, you'd only receive 50/cents on every dollar the land was worth. So to receive L$1,000,000 you need land worth L$2,000,000. Thats about 400,000m2 of land at todays prices. But you get the jist? You risk losing 400,000m2 with a cash value of L$2,000,000 in exchange for L$1,000,000 in cash with a repayment of 10%. So who wins? Everybody. Script writers, Builders, Investors, You, LL with increased content, and the growth of wealth and content will bring in more users looking to repeat a similar process.

If something cost $3850 US I highly doubt they'd be paying in L$, Alby.

There's really no realistic example of how this would be useful. L$10 is obviously not useful. Neither is 1 million. Neither is any amount in my opinion, but you're welcome to give a good example.
