Everyone,

With reference to this thread ==> /130/de/63191/1.html

Do you think the time has now come when SL is a game of two classes, the money men (and women) and the little people existing under the clouds of the money men (and women)?

These multiple million Linden dollar units on GOM are perhaps to be snapped up by one of the many money men (or women) working SL, and traded back and forth, in their class, while we move small units between us.

I think now, there's so much money amongst a top class, they have left the rest of us behind, and whole sims, and packets of a million lindens, are crumbs to them.

There is still room for advancement among those who are in the lower classes. However, one must work to achieve the "bigtime", and if there is a division in magnitude, it's only because those tending to cling to the bottom do so out of necessity or laxity.

I'm sorry, I have a hard time relating to this thread.

SL is still a great entertainment value. And you have many options. You don't have to participate in the economy at all if you don't want to. You can pay your tier, stay on your land, hang out with your friends, and build, script, or design... all for no more than your lowest account.

Or, if you want to buy $L... well 3.20 for 1,000 is a good deal. I can do alot of shopping in SL with a few thousand $L.

Now if you're saying that it is harder to be a big cheese in SL then it was last year... well I suppose that depends on how you count success. Money is one way to count it, but I don't admire or seek out the money people. I want to hang out with the talented scripters and designers and builders. Those are the people who awe me. If there are two classes in SL, then it is those who create... and those who don't. And they aren't oppressing me (actually I am a designer, so I'm not oppressing anyone either). They create super cool stuff that I can own for pennies.

While I find your sexy fat-talk exciting, this idea is nuts! :)

Only a small mind would believe these little tidbits of capitalist dogma. Those who have the skinny on putting the financial squeeze on the little guy should think about reducing their dependence on little things like money. As Tiny Tim famously once said, "less is more, simplify baby!"

nice post. i agree.

I would also note that a market is never closed off. There's always surprises and upstarts. A complacent market leader is a vulnerable one, that's for sure.
