I wish that the land tiers went by 512 or 1024 jumps, instead of doubling at every tier, so that at 4000 sq m you could afford just to buy that little lot next door without such a huge jump in tier costs, for example.

This would help people spread out as they become more prosperous and successful, and I think it would improve the appearance of the mainland.

I think I have been saying this since SL came out of beta almost 2 years ago. That should have been the first thing they did. But, you have to realize that in the beginning of SL time, Money was scarce, and land was tight. so back then the tiers as they are now made sense. with all the other changes, and the massive growth of SL, they really need to change the tiers to meet these specifications. Otherwise it will be very difficult to manage land in the near future with tier costs. If you raise tier price, change the tier ladder.
I'm done. Goodnight.

I'll bump this in 4-5 months with an I told you so.

One of a 3 things has to happen:

a) LL has to kill the Anshe/Hiro business model, which I call the "nuclear" option
b) LL has to attach Anshe/Hiro to the mainland and everyone else who wants to
c) LL has to give people zoning/control over the mainland the likes of which they have over the islands (basically b in a different format)

I dont see any negative effects occuring if we keep the status quo. LL is making money off of land-owners no matter where theyre located.

Eventually, people will move away from purina and into zoned area.

Actually, I think the ability to build what I want, where I want attracts me more to purchasing "Purina" land, then something zoned. I have visited Anshe's continants, and have been truly impressed by the results. However, I am not for special treatment. LL is making the same amount of money off of Anshe's place as they are normal grid land owners. I also think that its cool that people now have a choice between zoned Anshe-land land and unzoned main grid land.

From: someone
Purina land will be worth very little and have high vacancy rates until LL finally gets a clue and hands purina land over to zoning over lords.

I dont see that happening now :) got any proof?

Exactly :-) We need cultures, diversity and choices.

I'm curious about what you guys are calling zoning. It is clubs and light industrial in one area, residential in another? Or is it one type of people in one area, others in their own other area, aka discrimination, segregation, racism?

False. Which is the whole point of this post.

This is the proper evolution that will bring happiness to everyone:
- customers will be happy because Anshe / Hiro do superior land scaping / zoning than LL does

I could care less who's landscaping is best, worse or whatever. Even if someones Perfectland is perfect, it wont make me happier if its next door.
From: blaze Spinnaker
- Anshe, Hiro, and other customers will be happy because you're treating people who invest in you with respect

Huh? We're gonna make HUGE changes to things to make a few customers happy? Assuming they want this. You've spoken to them? Anshe posted a few problems early she saw with this idea. So we make a big change and a few land barons are happier (assumption), how am I happier? What about the masses? Oh wait this is for the financial gain of the few.
From: blaze Spinnaker
- You'll be happy because more people will be attracted to SL because the builds will improve (more thematic, better looking).

The day SL becomes Pefectland with everything looking perfect and Ken/Barbie (or in SL's case Barbie/Barbie) standing in their perfect yards with their perfect tans and perfect looking smiles and waving at me, is the day I leave SL.

Don't let it fall apart just because you feel you have to hang on to status quo (ie: purina land).

Dont let what fall apart? Your profit margin? The answer isnt connecting them. I mean why connect them? I can just TP to them. And if they were connected I'd still just TP to them. The connection makes no difference. Also if we connect them are we going to nuke all their telehubs and replace them with spaced out ones? ;)

The solution isnt giving MORE and MORE options to island land barons. The solution is giving more land/security tools to EVERYONE. Yes that includes us Dogland residents.

Just a quick question: Im curious if this is a surmise on your part based on observations, or if its fact, backed up with documentation such as financial statements, etc.?

Again, this rests on the need for LL to kill the large discount.

65536 m2 = 128 first land customers at 512 m2 per or 1280 USD / month per sim.

65536 m2 to dreamland is 200$ USD / month per sim.

If the demands on a void server hardware were not so great, I'd have loved to see a void server ocean seperate from the main grid that island owners could voluntarily link into, forming a huge archipelagos. Perhaps seperated with a void sim between each one to add space.

[X] = Zoned sim

[X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[ ] [X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X] [ ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X] [ ] [X]

..and so on and so forth.

If only void sims didn't require tons of extra slush hardware. :(

I'd just love to see a huge ocean of void sims filling in the gaps between islands. A boater's paradise, and Milo would have a real home. ^_^

We ever gonna get an entirely water filled sandbox sim for working on water related stuff? Island Sandbox is a nice place to build but it's ALL SAND. :>

Wouldnt a thread that focused on why or why not LL should or shouldnt kill the large discount be a better one instead of one about connecting sims? Sure they are 'somewhat' related but the real meat is elsewhere.

Keep things the way they are. I'm not interested in dealing with land barons's period and am quite satisfied with my 4096 plot of land. I like the fact that I can build whatever I like and have no use whatsoever for landlords. I could care less whether or not landbaron's are making money, and whenever I buy land I send all items off my land and teraform it to what I prefer anyway.

If for whatever reason someone builds something I find lacking taste around my property, it wll be easy enough to take pictures of the horizen night/day and put this on a timer and surround my property with it. ;)

I think the mainland is about a billion times more interesting than the islands.
